| | | Subway Experience. Subway Experience.
I've been through the a.s.d archive already so I'm not rehashing a
subject).
So, anyway, after I picked up another canister of test strips at wal*wart,
they have a Subway sandwich shop inside it.
I thought, I wonder if I could get a tomato, bell pepper, mushroom and
basil sandwich on whole grain bread.
When it was my turn to order I asked the fat lady who at a glance I could
tell wished she could be anywhere else, "do you have a whole-grain bread?"
She pointed to five bread pictures and said do any of those look like whole
grain? She shrugged and picked up a loaf and asked me does this one look
like whole grain? I just bake the bread!
I stepped out of line. I pictured her smoking a cigar while making the
dough.
No sub-friggin-way!!!

I don't eat at Subway, but I thought they had a wrap version of their
sandwiches?

They do have wraps; however they used to have a low-carb wrap, but have
discontinued it!! I whined and bitched about it, and was told "write to
Head Office". It didn't do any good.

My wife used to buy these absolutey delicious wraps at the produce
store...I forget the name but they had a few different versions. Their
flaxseed wrap had only 4 net carbs and made a great sandwich.
Unfortunately, this store hasn't had them lately and we can't find
them anywhere else.

I ate at subway back before I knew of my food allergies. I would always get
a small tuna sandwich. It didn't spike me but it did leave me hungry. Back
in those days they always picked the middle out of the bread. I hear they
don't do that any more. Don't know for sure. They put a very thin layer of
tuna on there, a few other vegetables, piece of cheese, and mainly some old,
shredded lettuce. Not very tasty or very filling.
More recently I tried Blimpies. They had an excellent tuna salad. I had
that, a big pickle and split a bag of chips with my daughter. That worked
for me. Alas, they are gone here. But it wouldn't matter anyway since I
now know I am allergic to all but the chips and the pickle. |

Look at tortillas. Also, Wal-mart has St. Joseph's flax wraps (look around
the deli section). Also, look for them on my site. www.diabeticjunkfood.com
