This is a non-profit established by Dr. Steve Edelman, diabetic (T1)
diabetologist with the UCSD Medical Center and also with the Veterans
Administration.
Taking Control Of Your Diabetes brought about 2000 enthusiastic
diabetics (my guess) to the San Diego Conference Center yesterday for an
educational meeting, exhibits, new products/services, eye checks, etc.
etc. and I was very impressed. This is a super group by a fine physician.
We all know that basic meters are essentially 'free' - if you just know
how to ask. But at this meeting I received a OneTouch UltraSmart
graphing meter, a retinal examination, bg and A1c checks, books, guides,
professional help, information on new drugs, and much more -- all at no
charge whatsoever.
I am not financially involved, but have huge respect for the group, its
founder, and its supporters.
www.tcoyd.org --- check for a meeting near you. If there's a meeting
within reasonable driving distance, you owe it to yourself to attend.
