Default The trouble with diabetics???

Could the trouble with diabetics be that we are used to being ignored as
nuisances???

For several years I have been buying, and enjoying, a diet strawbery jam
that had 4.1% carbs.
But not anymore. The only strawberry jam I could find today had 65% carbs,
or 60% sugars.

I remember some time back when somone on this news group called me an idiot
for carefully
calculating the sugar, ie carb, in milk, but the amount of sugar in milk has
a bearing on the amount
of cereal you can eat and enjoy.

I eat cereal. I never have milk. I'm allergic. And I pay no mind whatever
to the sugar content of the food I eat. Just thee carbs and the fiber.

Now they'll criticize you for eating cereal, which often has too much in
carbs
for type 2s.

Or perhaps you got criticized by someone who, not very recently, earned
an entry in my killfile.

Did it have actual strawberries in it?

Why are you so focussed on the *%* of carbs in a food rather than the actual
amount (with or without the fiber amount)?

OP was interested in a low carb% in what he used to get.
That Smucker's has 5g of carb in a 17g serving, way more than 4.1%.

At amny stores(at a higher price) it comes in amny flavors inculding
blueberry, apricot , raspberry, as well as the strawberry. It is OK , but
I prefer my home made no sugar added jams that I sweeten, upon opening
with slenda or Equal. they are real fruit and ALMOST as good as real
sugared jam. I don't know their exact carb level, but having some on 2
Waa cracker with an egg breakfst doesn't spike me. Of course, I don't eat
it by the spoomful.

Try the Smuckers, it's not bad.

Those aren't sugar FREE, IIRC, they're no sugar ADDED.

Marketing. It is NOT sugar-free, it's no sugar added to what was
already in the fruit.

Sure, "no sugar added" is better than "sugar added"
but it's still a marketing falsehood.

If some one can't handle 5 gr of carb/serving, than he should start ordering
his/her coffin for sure.

Its not just the jam, surely one spreads it onto something? Onto air?

Susan is correct, anything that contains fruit is not sugar free but NO
ADDED SUGAR instead. You have different labelling there. In Oz things are
labelled NO ADDED SUGAR, meaning no table sugar has been added but it might
mean there is honey added. ANd of course they can't call something with
fruit, a sugar-free product.

Wrong Julius.

I can't handle more than 5gm at breakfast without spiking;
other meals are easier.

I have no intention of ordering my coffin for a very long
time.

Sweeping generalisations are a very poor form of exercise.

And STILL not gaining control. I wish Julius would listen to some common
sense sometimes. His self treatment is just not working and never has over
all the years I have known him in the groups.
