| | | Update 2 on husband He was unable to do so much as stand up today and now they are saying it
might be Monday and not Sunday when they release him. We are kind of hoping
they keep him in there for Xmas. I know most people want to be home with
their families on Xmas but he is not one of them. He hates the holidays to
begin with, so it seems it would be best for all if he were just in there.
He was not making a lot of sense when we went to see him. He is still on
the epidural and not yet on the self administered pain meds. Not sure when
that will come or when the food will come. He looks very waxy and yellow.
Angela and I spent pretty much all day at the hospital today and are worn
out. Of course my gastroparesis decided to act up while we were there. Two
days of eating from the yummy salad bar at the hospital apparently are not
agreeing with me. At least he has a private room with a bathroom so I
didn't have to go far to throw up. |

Let's hope, whatever you want or need, is given. Christmas should be a time
of relaxation and joy, so you need to grab some of it, somehow! It's a
worrying time for you all - but give some time out for you and Angela.
Hope hubby gives him self time to heal.
Thinking of you (and how lucky I am at this time!). |

My friend, who's had bypass surgery twice, says that his recovery from
hsving kidney stones removed was the most painful thing he's ever
experienced.

Sorry your gastroparesis chose this time to act up--although given the
circumstances, it's not surprising.
Seems to me doctors/hospitals often underestimate the time it will
take before the patient is ready to go home. Sure there are probably
some that can recover as quickly as they predict, but many others
won't. Your husband's surgery had to be a fair amount of trauma to
his body. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being in the hospital
at Christmas.
You and Angela get some rest!

Ohhh, dear Julie,
Let's hope you get enough time to enjoy christmas with Angela.
Let us also hope your hubby gets enough time to reflect on the
tough times he's been giving you both this xmas and all the others too.
But you should be ashamed, young lady (yes, I can say that - I am 63!),
that you went wild in a salad bar ???
Now go and recuperate with a nice xmas lunch of your own liking and
return to tell us all about it.
Of course, let's all hope you get hubby back safe and sound as soon as you
need him ! |

Well, I suppose it will depend on HOW they operated him/her and how
the remains were removed from the body.
If he wasn't operated by ultrasound then it's old stuff.
If he was allowed to let the remains leave by natural passage, then it can
still be painful, but you wrote "recovery from ... stones removed " and not
referring to the recovery stage, where the zapped stones left by natural
way,
which can still be painful, moreso for a man, I hear. |

Good silver lining

*sigh*
Not gonna happen. They have released him. Got an angry call at 8:00 a.m.
because we were not there to pick him up. I did ask at the desk yesterday
to see what time they might release him and they said there was no set time.
So we are going to bring him back here and probably get yelled at all day.
I have a feeling he will not want to go to my parent's house. |

Lawks !
They do even better in India !
What country are you mailing from, man ?
No wonder it was painful for him. |

Perhaps poor phrasing on my part, Frank. Standard abdominal incision and
surgical renal calculus removal. 'Suck 'em out' referred to aspirating the
loose stones. This was 25 or 30 years ago here in the USA.
