Default What is the highest BG ever recorded?

I would like to break the world record for high blood sugar reading and
would like to know what is the highest bg ever recorded. I have been eating
only sugar for the last 2 weeks but my bg has plateaued at 635. I have
stayed on the couch for the last week trying to keep any exercise to a
minimum but the bg still hasnt risen. Any ideas on how to get my bg up more?

This can't be for real.

I've seen posts of BG in the 1,000's here. And you don't want to break
that. Most likely the highest BG comes about upon diagnosis when the body
is in a state of glucotoxicty. And most likely it's a type 1 who can't
bring it back down without insulin.

Bye troll!

Get a serious inflammatory disease and perform an autologous
pancreatectomy with a Norwegian Trollhatten Jagt. Try to do this before
summer school starts.

Michael Dougherty at 12 years old in November 1995 was found to have a blood
sugar level of 2,350 and was still conscious.

The best way would be to take several bags of sugar and a hammer and
'pound sand' until it comes out your nose.

And then they tapped a spout into his side, collected his fluids in a
bucket, and poured him on pancakes.

2350? Sheesh! Most home meters top out somewhere not far above 500.

I think they go to 600 and then just say HI.
I had a 518 and that is when I found out I was diabetic.
I felt like a lawnmower had run over me.
I new I had the symptoms and went out and got a sidekick disposable meter.
First test I did said 518. (about 12 midnight)
I tested about every 20 min. and it got down to less than 300.(by 4am)
The next day I went to the doctor and told him I had diabetes.

Ha, 12 years old and in November. I am guessing November 1st - the day after
Holloween.

Ohhhh. Good possibility!

But it sounds more like he glucose tested the M&M's he had in his
hand, not his actual blood stream.

Larry,

As you no doubt have realized already some in this group has a very
selective and stilted sense of humor. If you would have made some
joke about how the ADA will pay for someone's funeral or a joke about
Alzheimer's research, or slamming a Type1 diabetic then the same
people who felt the need to insult you would have laughed like monkeys
with a can of shaving cream.

Those who didn't get the joke could have easily just skipped over your
post. I appreciate your sense of humor and think having one is an
important part of diabetes. Don't let the assholes get you down.

Kurt

Says Kurt the hypocrite who doesn't believe diseases and medical disorders
should be joked about. In Kurt world it depends on who is telling the joke
and which people are laughing or not. A swinging voter if I ever saw one.

I certainly wouldn't consider that a joke.
To close to home--Indiana Medicaid is willing to
pay thousands to make someone comfortable while
they die of cancer, but not a cent for medicine
to prevent a treated cancer from coming back.

And the Veteran's Administration is spending loads
of our tax money treating diabetic complications
in people who listened to their V.A. doctors when
they couldn't afford a doctor that actually knew
something.

And congratulate yourself--if the rest of us were
unable to tell the difference between a joke and a
troll, at least you helped Kurt out by giving him
another opening for his need to slam people who
stubbornly refuse to agree with him.

Home BG meters don't normally read over 500. Thanks for being stupid
enough to play this troll.
