| | | For what it's worth... A representative of the Florida division of the Food and Drug Administration
returned my call today.
I pointed them to the web site for D'Lites Emporium and they agree that the
nutrition label needs to be investigated.
I actually hope I'm wrong. That would be too cool.
I'll let you know what and if they come up with anything...

You hope you're wrong about...what? What I see listed makes no sense.
Totally different ingredients and breakdowns from one side of the page to
the other. Unless they are in fact two different products. But why would
anyone want to eat that crap? |

I hope I'm wrong because what a wonderful world it would be if there was
real ice cream out there that had only two carbs per four ounces. Hell, I'd
be thrilled if it was eight carbs per four ounces. As to your last
sentence, um... it tastes pretty good. And yes, there are so many
inconsistencies in both nutrition lists one wonders where they should even
start, which is one of the reasons I reported it. |

I would think that, once they start messin with it - it leaves the realm of
"real ice cream" and becomes a low-carb product.... which is fine with me. I
couldn't care less.. as long as it tastes good and has fewer carbs so I can
eat a larger gob.

Good luck; maybe you'll be a celebrity like the NZ girls who
challenged Ribena's Vitamin C claims.
At one stage back when I was testing a lot and checking
absolutely everything I spent a lot of time checking our
local ice-creams.
I tried low-fat, low-carb, "lite", "ice-confections", the
lot, over several months.
Regardless of the labels and claims of manufacturers I
discovered that the lowest BG spikes came from the
old-fashioned REAL ice creams. They were generally the ones
a little higher in fat, lower in additives, slightly lower
in carbs.
If the words "low" or "lo" or the suffix "ol" appeared on
the pack I could guarantee a spike or, nearly as bad, a
taste tragedy.
I also found that my portion size limit is the equivalent of
a single scoop; a medium scoop in the afternoon or a large
one in the evening.
Nutrition lists and the glycemic index are guides only; the
final test is your BG meter at your peak time after eating.
Cheers, Alan, T2, Australia.

Dreyer's 'carb smart' is about 7 carbs per 1/4 cup. Not a lot of taste,
but not bad. |

like pinapple and never spike at all.
It had like 16 carbs and 6 protien and high fat for a half cup
serving...seems like it would spike but doesnt and ive eaten it at least 3
times a week for a while now...like others its the stuff with sugar alcohols
etc that spike me.
Anything with cream and not much junk does me fine.

Edy's fancy churned, no sugar added is lowish fat and about 11 carbs net
fiber for 1/2 cup. Seems better to me. Edy's and Dreyer's are the sm
company, different coasts.

We buy Edy's and Bryer's, Wendy... both have n0-sugar added (ie.
splenda recipes) and both make delicious ice cream!

Had a rough, emotional day with the kids (17, 21, 39, 44 (with a couple more
thrown in the pot for good measure.... lol ) today, and am feeling silly
tonight. Gotta unwind. Hellooooooooo, John!!!!!!
Oh, thank goodness for you all! LOL I let loose on the two younger ones,
leaving nothing unsaid; Jim did, too, when he took her and him to the doctor
for some lab work; and he sent a looong email to all the adult ones.
Sometimes I ask myself "Where did I go wrong?" If mine were the only ones,
I might think it had been me, but it's not just mine. And they really *are*
very, very good kids......... hey, I'm talking about the 40s somethings!!
lol Wish they were all like the 17 y/o.
Didn't feel like going, but went for my appointment with the hairdresser for
cut and color touch-up today, and think it was a good thing to do.

Breyer's is NOT Dreyers. The Dreyer's is the name of Edy's on the West
Coast. I guess two companies joined some years ago like Best Foods and
Hellmans mayo. Same product, different costs. Breyers is something
entirely different! And I don't likei tas much as the double churned lno
sugar added Edy's. It's a textural question.
