Default Whatever Happened to Low-Carb Diets?

This article takes a broader look at the subject of recent threads. In
short, be moderate in carb and saturated fat choices as your meter
directs. Diabetics are often not aware that both carbs and saturated
fats are implicated in the source and progress of diabetes because both
are involved in insulin resistance and beta cell health.

http://www.schwartzreport.net/showarticle.php?id=2636

"In the confusion over what to eat, many experts say that the best
course of action is a tried-and-true mantra: moderation, moderation,
moderation.
"Better studies have said time and again to limit saturated fat,"
Ayoob said. "That's what I tell my patients and what I'll continue to
tell them."
"The message should be carefully evaluated in reference to saturated
fat," said Jana Klauer, a physician specializing in nutrition and
exercise in New York. "What the study does say is: All carbohydrates
are not the same. Those that spike blood sugar are not good for your
heart. High amounts of protein will not hurt you. Vegetable protein
and fat lower risk for heart disease."
"I recommend high amounts of protein to my patients but advise them
to
focus on lean meats, take the skin off chicken, and eat good amounts
of fish.""

Sounds a bit strong to me. You have to be careful not to overdue the
moderation. Moderation in moderation. :-)

First we have to agree on a definition of "moderation."

That precludes "second..."

As has been clearly stated here MANY times:

If you want moderation, go start your own group.

Wait a second! Are we agreed on the definition of "definition?"

And after that, we must agree on a definition of "agree."

But, now, really, what does 'agree' mean? Are we talking consensus? 100%? a
plurality? Will there be a poll? A vote? Will it be binding?

I mentioned that there was an Orthodox guy who joined the list who I
believe, lived in the Monsey, Rockland county area and his name is
Mordechai Housman. tha twas it.

Debbie, who is also now, officially diabetic will be contacting you via
email with some information on an Orthodox diabetes mail list, I believe,
tht yu might be interested in.

Sorry you had to join this club that no one wants to join, but I am glad
we ave connected. Any further of this kind of stuff we coul dtake off
list. My address is not different, so you can reach me.

By the way I thought of some Pesach help. Winter squashes, like butternut
or acorn or spaghetti squash, with shaells that you don't eat and that can
be mashed or cooked up in various ways tht can taste good and are filling.
My vegetarian son(not Jon) used the spaghetti squash to make dinners
during Pesach.

Well, it is a small world:-)

Since someone said we "need to agree on the definition
