Default Ab Crunch ???

Could someone please explain how a "proper" ab crunch is done? Is this
the same as a sit-up? Or, is it done with a bicycle-type movement?
Thanks.....Sue

I recently read that the bicycle type ab workout is more effective (hits
more of the different ab muscles) than a straight on crunch.

I do 4 different types of crunches.

Regular Crunch - Knees bent, arms behind head, lift just enough to feel
it
Side Crunch - Same, but bend, one side, then the other
Bicycle Crunch - Same as side, but with opposite knees coming towards
elbows
Reverse Crunch - Knees meeting chest

I usually do 10 each.
