hey whatcha trying to do?
i have lost weight succesfully and maintaining it
i still go get fat when i eat too much
like me, try grapefruit juice
stay away from trans fat, sugar, white flour, white rice,
preservatives, acids, colouring, "emulsifier", "enhancers" etc...
go natural, balanced diet
carry some weights while u watch TV
but grapefruit juice is the main factor for me
caffeine is linked to heart disease, no?

Studies on this subject are conflicting. I'm 63 years old and have drank
coffee since I was a teenager. I don't have any heart problems.

I drink coffee before I swim. It seems to give me more endurance. I feel
like get a better work-out.

It's interestingly formulated where only near the end it says "Also,
keep in mind that caffeine is a stimulant that can increase your heart
rate and blood pressure, interrupt your sleep, and cause nervousness
and irritability."
To me, these are things that help with weight loss. Caffeine may not
make you lose weight directly, but like any other stimulant, it can
help you do things that burn calories. Even if it's just having to
get in the middle of the night and go to the bathroom...

controls your metabolism. Caffeine also does not build calorie-burning
muscle.
What's worse,
1. It is a diuretic, it takes fluids out of your body. Sometimes hunger is
disguised thirst. You can't afford to lose fluids through chemicals.
2. It interferes with sleep. If you don't get the right amount of sleep,
your body makes ghrelin which makes you hungry. You need to sleep to
produce leptin which suppresses hunger.

Yep. I don't know what I'd do without my diet coke and lattes every day.

I guess my question would be: If you know getting more physical activity
helps you lose weight, why do you need a chemical like caffeine to "force"
you to do so?

scientists can never know 100% what caffeine does to one's body. our
body is too complex. when i drink coffee, i get sleepy.
just because scientists/studies say caffeine is good, or we should take
1000mg vitamin C , etc.. does not mean it works for everybody. ppl
react differently to what's supposedly be good, or bad.
too summarize, too much of a good thing is not good.
have a balance in everything we eat.and try to go organic/natural

Caffeine speeds one up. So it can make one burn more calories, is it
significant enough to be a "weight loss tool", I really don't think so. I'm
no doctor but I believe there is more to metabiolism than the thyroid
gland.. I could be wrong...

muscles." You know any food /drink that does? and for that matter you know of
any muscle that does not burn calories when used? I'm not sure I get your
point there really..

Isn't that why we drink water? to replenish the loss of fluids that happens
naturally and chemically? Anybody "can afford" to lose fluids, as long as
you drink enough water to make up for it.

You've got some strong coffee is your morning coffee keeps you from sleeping
at night, or even your afternoon coffee. As long as I don't drink coffee
late afternoon, or in the evening, I've never felt a problem with it. Not to
mention that when I'm short on sleep, I eat less, not more, because I feel
really cr@ppy.
Like anything, too much is too much. Caffeine isn't better or worst than any
other food/drink item. It's all in how much. You can eat too much carrots,
to the point of getting very sick. Doesn't mean carrots aren't good for you.
