I recently found out that depression is one of the symptoms of
hypothyroidism. Most doctors use the TSH level to determine whether or not
a patient has hypothyroidism. The reference range for TSH on most blood
tests is 0.27 to 4.2. However, a really healthy person has a TSH level of
0.5 to 1.5. It's my opinion that a person MAY have hypothyroidism even
their TSH level is within the standard reference range. That could be the
reason they have depression.
My TSH level on my last blood test was 7.56. Google hypothyroidism to find
out all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. If your TSH is above 1.5, ask
your doctor to determine if you have hypothyroidism.
