Default Depression and Craziness - Link between Depression And Diet

Many people have the impression that all we need to be happy are the
proper conditions for a decent life - most of which can be bought with
money.

The article says we are born crazy, and I suppose in some ways we are,
at least to others, but mostly what individuals do makes sense to
them, so who is to say other than whoever is judging others at the
time.

I notice a big difference in depression between men and women. Women
certainly seek help more and seem to suffer more from depression,
perhaps due to some preconceived vision of happiness that often
doesn't materialize, and men seem to blame others rather than
themselves so they see others as the problem to their own unhappiness
and often this can be easier to live with. It adds to their aggressive
nature of course, but can also give them resolve to deal with the
situation somewhat better than women...like defeating an adversary in
battle, I suppose, which seems hard-wired into men much more than
women.

Personally, I looked at dieting.....yes this is a diet thread
afterall....perhaps more in terms of an adversary. When I reached 230,
I said to myself on day "Hell no, there is no way food and fat is
going to win this battle". I am stronger than any urge to overeat. Now
I could have taken the mamby pamby approach I read about often on this
thread where people complain about being overweight and give hundreds
of excuses....I have to have my this or that, I get hungry, my parents
were fat, I've always been fat, I have a slow metabolism. My answer to
that is not a very compasionate one, nor one a therapist or
nutritionist would give, but simply that you are fat because you
overeat....no other reason. If you want to count calories and eat what
you should, do it. If you don't, just remain fat. Now don't complain
or ask stupid questions and get your big fat butt in gear since your
metabolism is so low. Try sleeping an hour less or skip lunch and work
out. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE FAT. dkw

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I recently found out that depression is one of the symptoms of
hypothyroidism. Most doctors use the TSH level to determine whether or not
a patient has hypothyroidism. The reference range for TSH on most blood
tests is 0.27 to 4.2. However, a really healthy person has a TSH level of
0.5 to 1.5. It's my opinion that a person MAY have hypothyroidism even
their TSH level is within the standard reference range. That could be the
reason they have depression.
My TSH level on my last blood test was 7.56. Google hypothyroidism to find
out all of the symptoms of hypothyroidism. If your TSH is above 1.5, ask
your doctor to determine if you have hypothyroidism.
