Default Fibre intake

I've managed to increase my fiber intake to about 40 g a day, is there
such thing as eating too much fibre?? I feel like I finally have my
nutrition under control, I'm getting all the essential minerals and
vitamins through diet and am losing weight....

I feel great, I must say. It's amazing what adding a bit of exercise
and eating the right foods can do!

I think fiber at a certain level can inhibit the absorption of some
minerals, but I couldn't say for certain. But I honestly do not think that
would occur at 40g, since the RDA is 25-35g. As long as you aren't
constipated, I wouldn't worry.

There is nothing bad about eating alot of fiber rich foods. About the
only thing there might be is if you are eating more of one kind over
another - too many grains/bran/seeds/certain veggies (insoluble fiber)
over oats/legumes/apples,berries/root veggies etc (soluble fiber). You
need both, so variety is important.

Sounds like you are on the right track tho!

If you eat too much fiber, you will swell up like a balloon and go pop.
Well, not really, but you will get stomach cramps, bloating and
flatulence. They say you can build up to eating more fiber. I also eat
a lot of fiber. My solution to flatulence is I walk the dog a lot.
Nobody suspects a thing except my dog and she's not offended in the
least. dkw

Losing weight, great, eating less, wonderful, all essential this 'n
that, overblown.

You'll know when you get too much fibre. Something will very obviously go
out of control. Been there, done that.

I think I'm doing good then at between 30 to 45 g a day. Nothing seems
to be wrong with my body in any way...
