Hi All,
I'm kind of new to Google Groups, but glad to find this resource. I
had always been active, health oriented, and skinny up until my
thirties, but then slowly began putting on weight. The last few years
I've grown lax in my diet choices, gotten into wine at dinner almost
nightly, overdoing coffee....and it had really all started to catch up
with me. In a recent check up with my doc, he mentioned that I was
technically almost 30 lbs overweight (which qualifies for the term
"obese" in the medical world.) It kind of shocked me.
So, both my wife and I committed to sticking to a program of healthy
diet and exercise, since she has issues with blood pressure and
wanted to shed a few pounds too. Since that time, we both have
experienced some really noticeable results, and it truly feels good to
be getting back in shape again! I guess it wasn't too awfully late,
because we have only been at it for about 8 weeks (admittedly, we were
already doing some yoga, and moderate running, on and off - but not
enough to deal with my extra 30 lbs obviously.)
Anyway, I was inspired to start an "impromptu" blog, as a way to keep
track of my progress, and share whatever helpful information or
experiences with other people who might be looking for reinforcement
for their fitness, diet, and health goals. Please drop by and give it
