Today I went for my usual Thursday morning run, then spent a couple of
hours at home, then worked at the Conservancy the rest of the day. We
have a big Halloween event coming up -- tomorrow night, Saturday
night, and next Saturday. Michael and I did a lot of prep work for it
-- mainly cleaning out the reptile room (a big attraction for all the
visitors), then loading a mule (not the animal kind -- a 4x4 off-road
vehicle) and taking it partway up the mountain to the site where
people will meet at a campfire. Did lots of physical labor. Tonight
we had take-out Chinese food that DH picked up.
Food:
* 9:00 (home): oatmeal w/ peanut butter, flax seed, & golden raisins
* 10:45 (driving to conservancy): energy bar
* 12:30 (conservancy): sandwich w/ whole grain bun, 4 oz. turkey
breast, mustard
* 5:45 (home): 2 Medjoool dates; ~1/2 oz. of cheddar cheese spread
* 6:45 (home -- take-out Chinese): 3 pan-fried dumplings; 2 pancakes
of moo shu pork; ~1/3 order of kung pao shrimp; 2 glasses wine
(Bordeaux-style blend from Virginia -- still drinking second glass)
Exercise:
* 8:00: 3-mile run
* 11:00 -- 5:15: Lots of physical work: cleaning reptile cages;
collecting leaves, moss, and pine branches to put in cages; carrying a
bunch of heavy stuff from the reptile room to the underground shed;
vacuuming; cleaning various other stuff (storage bins that will hold
the snacks that we take up to the campfire site; folding chairs);
replacing window screens; loading mule with 5-gallon water bottles,
chairs, sand buckets, & firewood; moving fallen trees from mountain
road that we were driving up; unloading mule; putting up tent;
collecting worms to feed some of the reptiles (I am tired :-).)
