Spent the day heading home from Minneapolis -- coming to you this
evening from Peru, IL. Rather than returning the way we came -- via
Chicago -- we drove down through Iowa -- longer but easier -- straight,
un-busy roads through farmland. Better eating today in terms of
quantity and calories, though not great in terms of nutrition. I'm
still in vacation mode, but not wanting to eat quite as much as I have
been :-).
Food:
* 7:00 (Tom's house): 1 1/2 cups All Bran w/ yogurt bits; 2/3 cup skim
milk
* 9:30 (driving): hard-boiled egg
* 10:30 (driving): 3 caramels
* 12:00 (sandwich shop): half a large roast beef sandwich: 1 large
piece whole grain bread, 2 oz. roast beef, 1/3 oz. provolone cheese
* 2:30 (driving): 3 caramels (last of the package -- probably just as
well :-) )
* 5:45 (Maid-Rite restaurant -- an Iowa-based chain): 1 large Maid-Rite
"loose meat" sandwich(basically, this is loose hamburger, cooked in
some special manner so that it doesn't clump together at all -- ends up
fairly dry rather than greasy, but tasty -- we had read about this on
the roadfood site and seen it on TV, so wanted to try it here where we
had the chance): bun, 4 oz. beef, 2/3 oz. American cheese, dill
pickles, catsup, & mustard; about half of a chocolate malt
Totals: 1419 calories, 39g fat (25%), 201g carbs (57%), 83g protein
(23%)
Exercise: None -- drove 450 miles -- tired now.
