Default Food & Exercise -- 11/4/2006 (yesterday)

Yesterday I went to my hip-hop class in the morning, then made a quick
stop at Trader Joe's for a package of whole wheat hamburger buns. In
the evening we went with friends to dinner at a Thai restaurant and to
a concert (Bo Diddley).

Food:

* 7:45 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese & 10g grated parmesan
* 11:45 (driving to TJs): energy bar
* 12:00 (TJs food demo counter): 1 cocktail-sized turkey meatball; 1
tsp macaroni & cheese
* 1:30 (home): 4 oz. ground turkey breast burger on whole wheat
hamburger bun w/ 3 slices f/f cheese, dill pickle slices, & catsup; 1
Tootsie Pop
* 6:30 (Thai restauran): 7 oz. wine; 3 mini spring rolls; 6 oz.
pan-seared salmon w/ curry; 1/5 cup (uncooked measure) white rice

Totals: 1668 calories (130 from alcohol), 42g fat (23%), 137g carbs
(33%), 142g protein (34%)

Averages for the week: 1661 calories, 28% fat, 37% carbs, 30% protein

Exercise:

10:30 -- 1 hour hip-hop cardio class

Plus about a half-mile walk each way from the Thais restaurant to the
concert hall, and a fair bit of bopping around in place during the
concert. (Bo Diddley -- who's 78 years old, btw -- encouraged the
audience to stand up and move to the music :-) ).

Chris,

I hope all is well with you. Question about your last meal of the day:
you ate your Thai dinner rather early --what do you do when you have
hunger pangs later in the evening even after you've "exceeded" (I quote
because I know you're conscious but not religious about numbers) your
limit for the day?

I just had a soup that consisted of 85g shrimp, 60g raw spinach, 85g
petite peas, and 1c of chicken broth. I planned to have it later in the
evening (around 8pm) as to stave off any possibility of hunger, but
decided instead to go for it at 6pm. I wasn't particularly
hungry--pretty confident I ate it because it was prepared and it was
something for me to do to prolong my procrastination. Trying very hard
to break old habits...

Thanks!

HS

Well, yesterday i didn't get home after the concert until almost
midnight, and I was more tired than hungry so just went to bed. If I
had been hungry enough to feel I needed something before bedtime, I'd
just have eaten something -- probably my current bedtime snack of
fat-free Greek yogurt. The calorie count is important to me but not
at the expense of other principles -- like not going hungry :-).
