Default Food & Exercise -- 12/4/2006

Went to the gym this morning. Afterward I was supposed to start my
volunteer work at the Bull Run Conservancy , but when I got there the
director suggested we postpone to next week as he had just come down
with stomach flu. So I went by the winery and had a glas of wine with
a friend :-). Just hung out at home the rest of the day.

Food:

* 7:45 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese & 10g grated parmesan
* 10:45 (gym, between lifting & yoga): energy bar
* 12:30 (driving to Bull Run): sandwith w/ 82g filet mignon on 1 slice
whole grain bread
* 1:15 (winery): 5 oz. wine
* 5:45 (home): 1 pomegranate (first time I ever ate one in its natural
state -- good, but probably the messiest thing I've ever eaten --
maybe I need practice :-))
* 8:30 (home): 4 oz. ground turkey breast burger on whole wheat
hamburger bun w/ 3 slices f/f cheese, dill pickle slices, & catsup

Totals: 1380 calories (95 from alcohol), 31g fat (20%), 127g carbs
(37%), 123g protein (36%)

Exercise:

10:00 -- Upper body lifting: DB bench; DB fly; machine-assisted
pull-ups; lat pulldown; DB bent-over rows; DB curls; seated DB
overhead triceps extension; alternating DB lateral and front raises;
triceps pressdown

11:00 -- 75 minute vinyasa yoga class

I must have missed it in a post but what type of volunteer work will you be
doing?

I love my volunteer position with the MetroParks. I hope to do more after
retirement but will have to be satisfied with the "Bike for the Health of
It" program and patrol at the present time. I almost forgot my "time
keeper" position <g> I keep track of volunteer hours for the bike, hike and
horse patrols and then send reports to the park director.

Mostly just computer/clerical stuff. When I said on my membership
form that I was willing to do volunteer work, I was envisioning
something more physical, but this seems to be more what's needed.
However, when I talked with the director and mentioned this, he said
maybe sometimes he or the naturalist could use some help with some of
the outdoor work, so perhaps I'll get out occasionally too. I am
happy to support them however I can, though, as they provide a
tremendous resource here in our county, and one I take a lot of
advantage of.

Bike patrol sounds like more fun :-).

My husband is a volunteer for ski patrol on Mt Hood. During the summer they
also do bike patrol as one of the ski resorts becomes a mountain biking park
during the summer. We both love that type of stuff, and it's how we met ;-)
Only I'm not a volunteer now because of our new baby. Maybe someday!
