Spent the day here at Tom's. Finally got some exercise, though my
sore back inhibited me a fair bit. Early in the day Tom went for a
bike ride and then a run (he has recently done a triathlon and is
wanting to keep up with the training to do future ones), while I went
for a walk. Later we went out for a late breakfast, and then went to
visit one of Life Time's newest (and fanciest) clubs, just to see it
-- most impressive! In the afternoon Tom and I went to the local club
and swam a few laps, then went in the hot tub, sauna, and steam room.
I think both the swimming and the various heat therapies helped my
back. It's not fully recovered but is much better than it was this
morning. Tonight we made a spaghetti dinner at Tom's house, and
another couple we know in the area joined us. After dinner we've been
drinking wine and playing Ninendo Wii games.
Food:
* 7:00 (Tom's house): ~2/3 cup banana crunch cereal w/ skim milk
* 10:30 (restaurant): 1 glass grapefruit juice; large peach muffin w/
butter; 2-egg omelet w/ Swiss cheese & mushrooms
* 4:00 (gym cafe, after swimming & stuff): yogurt parfait (yogurt,
strawberries, granola)
* 6:00 (Tom's house): 1 small peach
* 8:30 (Tom's house): appetizers (prosciutto, cheese curds, tomatoes
w/ mozzarella); whole wheat linguine w/ tomato sauce & grated
parmesan; 1 glass wine
* subsequently (Tom's house): 2 more glasses wine
Exercise:
* 8:00: 2.5 mile walk (not especially fast -- my back was pretty
stiff)
* 12:00 (gym we visited): a few easy squats, bench presses, etc. --
just playing around with the equipment)
* 2:30 (local gym): swimming: 28 short lengths (about half the
standard length)
+ some activity playing Nintendo bowling & ping-pong
