coffee
noon small avocado, stuffed with tuna on arugula with tomato
and olive oil
1 PM glass of Chaddsford Merlot plus many small sips of other
wines and 4 potato chips!
4:00 PM melon balls w/ lemon juice
5:00 PM TB almond butter, citron honey and rye bread
7 PM chili, rice, and tuna
9 PM small apple
I managed to have a glass of wine every day this weekend and feel very
happy about not having the bottles around inviting me to have more.
No exercise so my blood pressure has risen. Amazing.
I ordered 4 teas from Upton today but I didnt order this one! I
bought Margaret's Hope instead.
Arya Estate White Pearl
This organic tea is one of the most carefully produced tea in all of
Darjeeling. The delicate leaves are plucked promptly at the break of
dawn, when there is still dew on the bushes. They are dried in the
sun for a few hours, rolled in fine silk cloth, and finished with a
final round of sun-drying. Supply is very limited. I ordered a
sample.

Just for you, Honeybunch, since you're a wine fan, here are the wines
I sampled this weekend :-) :
Friday night -- Silverado Vineyard dinner:
* Silverado Sauvignon Blanc, 2005
* Silverado Chardonnay, 2005
* Silverado Merlot, 2003
* Silverado Cabernet Sauvignon, 2004
* Silverado Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 2002
* Silverado Sangiovese, 2005
Saturday morning breakfast hike:
* Champagne -- didn't note the name
Saturday afternoon reception:
* unknown Chardonnay
Saturday Knights of the Vine dinner:
* Horton Sparkling Viognier, Virginia
* Flight of Two Champagnes (I'm afraid I don't recall what they were
-- they were passed by a waiter -- and it wasn't printed on the menu.)
* Hartwood Rappahannock Rose, Virginia
* Château des Tourtes, 2006, Graves
* Rockbridge Reserve Chardonnay Virginia
* Opolo Viognier, 2005, Central Coast
* Sherwood Estate Pinot Noir, 2006, Marlborough
* Marimar Estate, Don Miguel Vineyard Chardonnay, 2004, Russian River
Valley
* Real de Anguix, Reserva, 2000, Ribera del Duero
* Domaine de Saint Siffrein, Châteauneuf du Pape, 2004
* Winter Creek, The Old Barossa Blend, 2004
* Margan Botrytis Semillon, 2003, Hunter Valley
(For the record, the pours were about 2 oz. each, but I didn't finish
most of them, and didn't have any repours -- which were freely
offered. The host told me they'd brought four bottles of each wine --
a total of 52 bottles -- for the 18 people at the dinner! The
leftover unopened bottles will go back to the club's cellar.)
No wine today! (Needless to say, I do not make a habit of living like
this.)

| | | Re: food/exercise Sunday 9/30 Chris you are one lucky duck. I am very modest about my wine drinking
because of what I usually find before me these days. Thanks to you, I
am aiming at finding somewhere one glass of tolerable wine each day on
the weekends.

I am indeed fortunate to be able to enjoy all these wine activities.
I do drink wine more frequently since I retired than I did
beforehand. I don't know that there's really any reason for this,
since it's not like I was drinking enough to affect my ability to get
up and go to work -- just some lifestyle changes -- more involvement
with my wine groups, etc. I'm also fortunate that I don't seem to
have a tendency to develop a dependency on alcohol. I mean, I like
drinking it -- in the same way I like eating good-tasting things --
but I don't ever crave it. I'm much more addicted to Diet
Pepsi :-).
Next week DH and I are taking his mother up to the Finger Lakes in
upstate New York. We'll visit a few wineries, but probably not too
many, as it would get tiring for my MIL.
