Default Good bicycling forums?

I may be a bike owner in the near future. Believe it or not, I won a
Fuji Crosstown 2.0 in a blog contest. And I haven't been on a bicycle
in like 30 YEARS! I've never ridden on hills before... and that's what
we've got in this town, I live on one of the steeper ones!

Fortunately, I also have a station wagon if I need to take the bike
elsewhere to start learning, LOL!

So I was wondering if anyone knew of a good bicycle forum where I
might could get tips/advice if needed. No idea when the bike is
coming... I just know that the contest rep has my info. But I'm really
looking forward to owning a bike again, I can say that!

There are a number of bicycle newsgroups in the rec.bicycles. heirarchy.
I like rec.bicycles.tech but there are others as well.

Thanks, I'll check that out. Funny... didn't even think of Usenet! I
guess I've gotten a little discouraged with Usenet and this group, so
I was actually thinking web forums. Sad but true.

There's a local bicycle group, which I may end up joining once the
bike actually arrives and I learn to ride again. They have a web
forum, but it's not very active.

Hi Cynthia,

I've quit using the Usenet bicycle forums as they've been over run by
trolls, etc. Sadly this has happened to a lot of the Usenet groups

I've participated in Bikeforums.net for a few years and really like it.
They have several sections to choose. The Historian, who was a regular
poster here, also posts there.

I'm usually in the 50+ forum but you don't have to be 50+ to post there.

They have a group for people wanting to lose weight. It's the Clydes/Athena
group. I always read that section and have participated there, too.

Hope to see you there

Beverly

Yes, probably why I didn't think of Usenet. I'm not doing much with
Usenet these days because of the troll/spam thing.

Someone commented on my blog and recommended this forum, so I probably
WILL sign up there once my bike arrives.

Yeah, I saw that! And they'd probably have just the tips for someone
like me who hasn't ridden in some 30 years and is not so sure of
balance right now.

Now if the bike would only come!

Thanks Beverly!
