Default heavy lifting again

I've sort of stalled over the last few months. Haven't lost more than a
couple lbs, although I have lost 2% bodyfat. My routine for awhile has been
M/W Group Power, which is a low weight high rep barbell class, and T/TH a
cycling class. My endurance is way up, my energy levels better than ever,
but I sort of hit a wall. My calorie intake has been averaging below 1400
and I just didn't want to drop any lower. So I decided to drop the power
class and start doing weight lifting again on MWF.

I did some research back to the days when I lifted regularly, and found I
was eating more and losing faster. I also have found some studies that
indicate that the metabolism is elevated for up to 48 hrs after a good solid
lifting workout, which may explain why I could eat more and still lose
weight. The same study seemed to indicate that cardio type exercise did not
have the metabolism boosting effect for more than about an hour after ending
the workout.

Regardless of what the "studies" say, I believe that the body needs to be
continually challenged, and when you start to get comfortable, it's time to
reach outside the comfort zone again...

I think the same is true for adding in a vareity of foods and even
zigzagging your daily calorie intake acccording to your daily
activities. IMHO eating the same thing day in and day out at the same
calorie level and soon your body adapts to it just like it does to the
same exercises. It knows what you are going to feed it and how to use
it as fuel or store it.
So maybe revamping your menu plans, adding in some good fats, and
trying new foods might ba a good idea too.
