Default how long for test results

I had my thyroid tested Friday morning. How long is typical for getting
results back? I went to the lab's website and found they actually send the
lab work off to a lab in Va. for the tyroid testing. (today's technology,
and they still send this stuff off... WTF)

I'm curious, I hate waiting, but I feel like a pest calling the doc office
to see if the results are in.

My doctor generally calls me with the results in about two days. On
other hand, I live in VA :-).

I know we've already talked about this, but CALL dammit! They don't sit on
the blood specimen for days, they have to do the test within a certain
amount of time, so it is almost certainly done. They are more than likely
sitting on the results, which if you call in should be available right on
the computer screen for someone to look up. My doctor never did call me
with the results, I logged in to the secure site and found the results and
then called my doc to discuss it.

My insurance does not offer the option to view results online. In
researching the lab and the particular test - it said something about
sending the results to Virginia (which I find that hard to believe they
would have to send it off).

For what its worth my Doc called me today, although left a message on the VM
since I was at work, so I'll find out tomorrow.
