Default How to loose stomach fat while still building muscle

Hey all,

I'm a 19 year old univeristy student standing at about 5'10 165lbs. I
started working out about a year ago and have seen decent results
overall. I've heard to build muscle while working out you need to
increase your protein intake, which as a result increases your daily
calorie and fat intake. When i began working out i had a flat stomach,
but ever since i've started eating more ive started gaining muscle, but
also gaining fat on my stomach. The fat build up is starting to distort
the amount of muscle i've gained and i was wondering if anyone could
give me some advice on how to continue to build muscle without gaining
fat around my stomach. Also, how i can start loosing the fat on my
stomach while continuing to gain muscle.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

You cant really lose bodyfat while gaining muscle because they are two
opposite goals. Sometimes a newbie can accomplish both, but usually its
a choice you need to make as time goes on. You see to lose bodyfat you
need to consistantly make a caloric deficit and to gain muscle you need
a surplus of calories. Opposite nutritional needs.
Do you know how many calories you eat per day to maintian your current
weight? Try trimming off 100 to 500 calories a day either by eating
less and or exercising more (Personally I think exercising more
especially cardio would be a good choice). Really scrutinize what you
eat on a daily basis and always try to make healthier choices.
Have a look thru this website to understand how your body works, how
calories work, etc: http://www.hussmanfitness.org/

Continue to train to build muscle but change your
diet so as to maintain the same weight. To keep
your protein intake adequate yet reduce calories
and fat, you may want to consider protein powder.
