You can calculate the amount of calories you should eat each day to
maintain your weight by following these formulas:
For Women: 655 + (4.3 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) -
(4.7 x age in years)
For Men: 66 + (6.3 x weight in pounds) + (12.9 x height in inches) -
(6.8 x age in years)
Then in order to lose weight you need to subtract from this. 1 pound
is equal to 3,500 calories so to lose 1 pound per week you need to
take 500 calories off your daily total.
You also need to take into consideration any exercise you do. Lightly
active people should add 20% to their daily total. Moderately active
people should add 30% to their daily total and Extremely active people
should add 40% to their daily total.
