I'm going to eat what I want. Dieting is the number one cause of death
among fat people.

Ignorant fat bashers are a national disgrace.

Kelly:
It's up to the person to do something about there own weight.
Obesity in America is up to about 80%. Just look around when you go to
the malls. Look in our schools. Are the kids getting enough physical
education? Now a days both parents are working and running around to
soccer practice, religon, dance, etc. Whre ae the home cooked meals?
It's easy to stop off at a fast food place. Did you see the movie
Super Size me? What are government is pushing into are school lunches!
If you haven't seen this movie, check it out.
You have to be happy in how you look and feel. Joe

And as the population is getting fatter, we are living longer and

What evidence do you have to support this?

Me! I'm starting weight watchers on Tuesday with a friend. I've had a
lot of physical problems (neck surgery) in the last couple years which
have prevented me from exercising. I'm finally getting back to normal
and am looking forward to shedding the (ahem) 30 lbs. I gained. I know
I'm in here somewhere...I've just gotta find me!

Very impressive. You not only don't know how to eat and exercise
properly, but you also don't understand how to interpret what you read.
Do you really think a decrease in infant mortality is an endorsement of
the 'fat lifestyle?' Your posting is another example of the sort of
nonsense-thinking I left behind when I lost weight.

Congratulations on your decision to undertake corrective action in
regard to your obesity.
I can understand how your neck surgery interfered with you practicing
a higher level of physical activity, but what was the nature of the
neck surgery that caused you to overeat during this period?

Yes, and apparently there are sections and cities that claim the prize
for fattest. I saw Supersize Me on TV last night and it said the
fattest city is Detroit, with Houston #2 and San Antonio #3 or so. I
have even noticed this. It might be a racial or cultural thing. I know
all races can be overweight and are, but some races seem especially
prone to overeating. Hispanics and older black women seem to often be
overweight. Black men on the otherhand don't seem as overweight. I
seldom see overweight orientals, but polynesians also are often
overweight. I wonder if my observations are true and what the reasons
might be. Austin, Texas SEEMS to not have so many fat folks but it is
only 60 miles from San Antonio with about the same racial mix, so it
could be more socioeconomic as well. Maybe the real secret to gettin
thin is to make a lot of money?? dkw

That article provides no evidence. Furthermore, the group of elderly
folk
today did not necessarily have the same diet as younger people
today do. This isn't evident to you?

Additionally, I fail to see how you can infer 'fat basher' from
my original inquiry.

Am I the only one here that thinks this is odd to be posted in a
diet support group? I mean, most of are here because we are doing
something about our weight. When I saw the title, I thought that maybe
it was crossposted to the fat acceptance group or something too. But
just here? That's sorta like going to rec.food.cooking and asking when
everyone is going to stop eating tv dinners and learn how to make meals
for themselves.

The original posts were crossposted. I removed the crossposting in my
reply. I responded to the posts because they were idiotic and cried for
correction.

Why they were crossposted is an interesting point. The original poster
doesn't realize the difference between overweight people working to
change themselves and overweight people claiming the role, or dare I
write "roll", of victim. That's as mindless as the reasoning for
crossposting used by the nutcase responsible for those quack medicine
threads that are continuously poluting ASD. In the case of the fat
acceptence crossposting, it's because the OP thinks all fat people are
lazy folk with a victim mentality; in the case of the quack threads,
it's because the OP thinks fat people are 'sick'.

Sorry if I sound grumpy; it was a long night. A little 'adult beverage'
goes a long way now that I'm 111 pounds lighter.

Apparently you lack reading comprehension skills. The article clearly
states that in 1900 the life expectancy was 47 and today it's 77.
Anybody with a pulse above room temp already knows that Americans today
live longer than they did a hundred years ago.

That doesn't say that those who are in the morbidly obese group will
live as long as those who are not. And it doesn't say that the overall
life expectancy would not be higher if people were not obese. But
you're not going to convince people with your arguments when you refuse
to acknowledge established facts.

Because they have no courage in standing up for convictions. In fact
they have no convictions. They are not even real as far as I am

Why not try reading my post next time before responding to it?
The people that are living to a ripe old age /today/ did /not/
necessarrily have the same diet as /young people today/.

Ergo, you can't imply that because the younger people today
are overweight or obese(whatever RealBBW meant by 'fatter')
that they will necessarily live longer. In fact, I would expect
the younger people today(if their food habit trends continue)
to see a /decline/ in life expectancy.

Why do unpleasant truths get discounted by labels, i.e., "trolls"?

The obesity rate may not be an embarrassment per se but certainly does
contribute to an increase in illnesses such as diabetes- illnesses that
will require an increase in medical insurance premiums to cover the cost
of care.

The prudent poster has learned that when they included a working email
address reprobates such as Lady Veteran were not content to discuss
the issues raised in the newsgroup forums in the newsgroup forums but
took a campaign of harassment to the other persons email.

A prudent poster should not post their actual email address any more
than they should post their phone number or postal address.

It should be patently obvious that an issue raised in a newsgroup
would be discussed in the newsgroup. It would be out of order to send
the other poster email, make a phone call to the other poster or to
mail them a response via the USPS.

Lady Veteran has in the past tried to get posters to include more
personal information about them selves so that she could take it real
word an off line. BE WARY

I actually agree with you here. A hormone imbalance is generally rare and
*still* does not cause weight gain. It only means that one is still eating
more than they burn but they don't burn as much as another person of the
same age/ht/wt etc. There are many ways around most hormone imbalances.
It's still a life choice. Personally I choose to eat less and exercise more
to stay healthy though I will probably never be a size 6 because of how much
less I'd have to eat and how much more I'd have to exercise. OTOH I'd
easily get back to a size 28-30 if I chose to stop eating less and
exercising. I don't use my physical condition as an excuse to eat junk or
sit around all of the time.

How does a "hormone imbalance" allow a human body to make fat from air?

I just crossed the line from "overweight" to "obese".

BMI 30.3 230/230/185. 6'1" Male.

I am not going to allow myself to be depressed by that. I find it a
somewhat encouraging milestone.

I showed up here to try to read some encouraging thoughts from others. I
love newsgroups and will resolve to stay away from trendy diets such as
Atkins and South Beach - I may look into GI - I have a lot of diabetes in my
family and I carry my weight on my belly.

You must be a newbie. If one posts ad nauseum to many groups including
1 group that does not allow diet talk and they us an anonymous that
makes them a troll. If they use a real email address and they post to
a group that does not allow diet talk, they are a rebel without a
clue, in other words, an idiot.

Reciting alarmist propaganda is going to get you one of those labels.

Can you tell which group is not interested in your alarmist attitude?

Try real hard and guess, now.

C'mon-you can do it.

Atkins isn't trendy, it's the most effective way to lose weight.

3. Are Lady Veteran's teeth really that brown?

4. Lady Veteran will claim that picture was altered. What say you?

LV will claim that the picture was altered, but only the name tag was
added. LV used to have the original picture posted on her personal web
site at http://profiles.yahoo.com/lady_veteran . It was taken down after a
dentist was shocked by the color of her teeth (Message-ID:
<43ms20p62nc280ro3q88en4h3vugdafg3l@4ax.com> ). LV subsequently replaced
the picture to avoid further embarrassment.

In a legal newsgroup seeking legal advise...you left out that part.

6. Is Lady Veteran really a serial beggar?

Yes. Not only did she beg a priest for money to pay her rent (Message-ID:
<33FBD47F044F1402.9414A74F8938BCC8.AA82604960F75E4 2@lp.airnews.net>#1/1),
she also posted a message on NAAFA's web board and created a Geocities web
site for the sole purpose of begging for money for her war on trolls.

7. Does Lady Veteran use pay day loans?

Yes. Message-ID:

11. Does Lady Veteran have her own newsgroups?

http://www.bestjobsus.com/bt-empd-armyvet.htm . This address is for the
Budget Suites of America.

13. Does Lady Veteran take things to real life with people who disagree
with her?

Racist and sexist.

19. What does Lady Veteran think of Air Force pilots?

Lady Veteran is on the record stating that Air Force pilots are cowards.
Quoting from Message-ID:
<FD61BA67148006B8.0AC8A33AD0FC8798.555ED8B384D327D 0@lp.airnews.net>

They are most definitely cowards if they can't call a person fat to
their face and reap the benefits their comments so richly deserve.
BTW, I don't find hotshot pilots so brave. They fly up above the war
and could care less where their bombs fall. If they cared, maybe there
would be less war.
