Default How To Never Mind A Diet

When I was 28 years old I had been smoking for
14 years. I really got to the point it was effecting my
health, so I wanted to stop.

Here's what I did. Every time I wanted or craved a smoke
I told myself I could have one in 30 mins from that moment
and just forgot about it. Well, 30 mins always came and went
because I had forgotten about my allowence! The next time
came around and I did the same thing over and over
for about a week or so.

I haven't smoked in 25 years since then

I tried to do this same thing with my diet, but it did not work.
I would always end up craving more food and splurging. However
what has worked is everytime I think about eating something I crave
now, I immediately, purposely try to forget that focus. It has worked so
far, and I'm eating the right foods at the right times still.

At least 90% of a successful diet is psychologically controlling
thoughts of splurge/overeating for me. I just thought I'd post
this hopefully to encourage some of you....to Never Mind
over eating.

"THE NEVER MIND DIET" LOL!

I agree. Some people would eat a lot more and do on weekends if they
aren't so busy, but when they have a lot of work to do, they often skip
meals and don't think so much about it. Also being around the food
doesn't help. It's just one aspect though.

What works for me is just the opposite. I constantly...well certainly
several times a day think about food...how much I've had, how much more
I can have, but along with that preoccupation there is a commitment
that I will never go over my allotment of calories. I never do. dkw
