Will certain vegetables reduce your appetite?

That depends on exactly how you define the word "appetite".

Most veggies are filling so they tend to make current hunger
go away. Most veggies are both low fat and low protein so they
have little lasting power for keeping hunger from coming back.

Combine veggies with meat and that tends to handle hunger
quickly and keep it from coming back for a comparitively long
time.

For some people the carbiest veggies tend to make them
feel more hungry not less. Potatoes will do this for some but
cauliflower never seems to.

Stay away from veggies that have sugars in then, this will usually increase
appetite. For example, I used to bring a small baggy of raw baby carrots to
work with me until I figured out that after I ate them, I got really hungry.
Carrots have a lot of sugar in them. There was another veggie that did this
to me, but right now I cannot remember which one it was.

I just looked, 128 grams of carrot (about 4.5 oz) has 5 grams sugar.
Apple has twice as much. banana has more like three times.

So as fruit and vegetables go they aren't bad.

For some people the glycemic load is what's important. For others
the carb grams, for others still the calorie count.

Among carrot, apple, banana, it's the apple with the lowest glycemic
load.
