| | | I feel like forrest gump! I keep running and running...
I'm so happy with how I'm progressing with running. I started out about 3
weeks ago, and couldn't run more than 30 seconds at a time. I can now
maintain a jog at 5.5 mph for over 3 miles! I know that I'm not setting any
speed records at that pace, but it still feels wonderful. I participate in
my first 5k on Feb 24. I'm pretty sure that at least I'll be able to
finish!
One amazing thing that has occurred since I started running is that my
resting heart rate is down around 55 bpm, and my blood pressure is really
low too. I had an ekg today to get cleared for all this running, because I
have had heart rhythm problems in the past, and I checked out great. The
doc says I have stats of an athlete... I'm thrilled. And I'm below 126lbs,
which I haven't seen for 3 yrs! |

You shouldn't be worried about speed if you only started 3 weeks ago.
I've been running on the treadmill for a couple of years now--when I
can't get outside--and only rarely go over 6 mph as I don't like feeling
out of control. If I have to hold on, I'm going too fast!!
Don't overdue, injure yourself, and stop--as many new runners, lifters,
and other overzealous newbs do. You know too much and have been around
too long to do that to yourself, right?
But great job on your progress--slow and steady really does win the
race. And if you're already running 3 miles, you've got it licked.

Good for you! Hope you continue to progress. You've chosen
the right screen name, determined. Good luck in your 5k.
Take care,

barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey's uh, shrimp-kabobs,
shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's
pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup,
shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp
sandwich...

Sorry, that's what I think about everytime I hear about Forrest Gump!

Congrats, you will quit this too soon.

Your RHR means nothing.

Idiot you are, the EKG i.e. the full CV exam comes first...

Will you ever become more interested in being a Mother than in being a
"determined"?

Ask your kid. See how she/he feels.
