Default List of good sources of protein?

Anyone have a list or website of good sources of protein ? I am
starting to workout and drinking these whey protein stuff, but would
like to know foods that can do the same thing. I am new to all of this
.. Thanks.

Egg whites are a cheap, good source. I like to make meringues, but you
could scramble them and even include a little yolk if you are brave.
The yolk though is where the fat and cholesterol is, so I never touch
that.

The book is out on whether you even need to increase protein. If you
are talking serious bodybuilding, you might need a little more, but for
regular hard exercise 1.8 grams per kilogram of weight is plenty. There
is some evidence that too much protein damages your kidneys, too so
don't overdo the protein.

I have a friend who is a bodybuilder into really heavy weights and all
he does is eat a couple of cans of tuna for his added protein per day
he says. I don't know what his regular diet is, but he is very muscular
and doesn't take any supplements he says. dkw

* Any kind of meat or fish

* Dairy products (milk, cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, yogurt)

* Any kind of soy product -- soybeans, tofu, vegetarian meat
substitutes

* Legumes -- beans, lentils, etc. (though technically these are what's
called incomplete proteins, meaning they don't have all of the amino
acids contained in complete proteins like meat & dairy -- but nothing
you need to worry about with a balanced diet)

* Nuts (also an incomplete protein)

There is also some protein in vegetables and whole grain products, but
not a whole lot.

I've been eating a lot of lentils lately. They're easy to prepare and
very filling.

Click the "Tools" tab - then nutrient search

You can enter protein and it will show you foods highest in protein

I often fix a 4 bean salad and my family loves it. It's a WW recipe
and has baby lima beans, black beans, chickpeas and red kidney beans.

I noticed from another post of yours that you're trying to gain 10
pounds of muscle. Don't confuse dietary fat with body fat. You won't
gain fat by eating fat. You'll gain fat from eating more calories than
you burn. If you eat too much protein it will be stored as fat just as
easily as a Twinkie.

Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are particularly good for protein...
