| | | Lost weight now I got a problem I went down from 190+ to 150 (size 38 to size 30 jeans weee!!) in less
than I'd say 6 months. Cut back on junk food, rice, beef, bread, eggs,
but most importantly soda. I hate water, it makes me gag so back then
I would usually drink a 2 liter bottle every day.Haven't given it up
completely but I'm now alternating between diet soda and water (usually
3 2Liter bottles per week). No gym whatsoever.
Anyways, so whatever amount I lost it was quite noticeable because I
got quite a few compliments, old friends didnt recognize me, heck
people even thought I was sick! But there's a little thing bothering
me, I used to have quite a large chest (man-boobs) and that was my main
reason for dieting, to get rid of them. They have definitely decreased
in size but haven't gone away completely. Since last month it has been
stalling and I'm not fat anymore(according to my doctor). Also when I
lean down and look at myself in the mirror I see a frickin wrinkly gut
hangin loose and thats only when I lean down! Sort of freaky because it
looks like an empty bag being filled with rocks and shaking it back and
forth. I don't know if this is called "Flab", God I hope not what was
the point of dieting then? sigh! but if it is what are the best home
exercises to 'cure' this horror especially the chest area? I'm scared
of going to the gym (not enough social skills) so that's not an option.
Oh yeah, I'm 19, 5'7 male.
Thanks for any feedback! |

The problem is that you are still a little fat. You lost only some of
the fat. Keep taking off weight and the flab will go away, although
perhaps not all the loose skin entirely. I lost 90 pounds and noticed
the same thing when I weighed 170, down from 235. Now I weight 133 and
my chest and stomach are very flat and all the flab is gone. I do
exercise a 6 days a week. You can just go to the gym and not do much
talking except hello and goodbye. Most people stare at the TVs and read
and wear head phones pretty much ignoring everyone around them, so
soicialiblity should not be a factor.
Remember skin is quite thin. When you pinch the flab, you will find it
is quite a bit thicker than skin alone. All the people I have seen who
have had the surgery to remove "loose skin" shows huge hunks of FAT,
not skin alone that the surgeon cuts off. I think had they continued
to lose the weight (as I did), they probably wouldn't have even needed
the surgery. dkw |

Congratulations!

Do you mean "no gym" or "no exercise?" It's not a good idea to lose
weight by diet alone.

Same here. :-)
They have definitely decreased
> in size but haven't gone away completely.
Some guys are going to have a larger chest than others. You wouldn't
mind having a sizable chest if it were muscular, would you? I'd suggest
working out with weights to build up your chest and shoulders.
Since last month it has been
> stalling and I'm not fat anymore(according to my doctor). Also when I

Your skin may have been stretched from carrying the extra weight. With
time and continued exercise it should shrink.
God I hope not what was
> the point of dieting then?
You answered your question in your own post. You did it to decrease the
he-hooters and improve your appearance.
sigh! but if it is what are the best home
> exercises to 'cure' this horror especially the chest area?
Well, this isn't a guarentee, but working out with weights will add
muscle to your body. You probably lost muscle mass during your
'decline' - which is why it's not a good idea to lose weight through
diet alone.
I'm scared
> of going to the gym (not enough social skills) so that's not an option.
Oh come on. You can do it. Please set aside this silly notion that gyms
only serve people with 3% body fat. I know it's a silly notion, because
I had it myself. I waddled into my local gym a year ago yesterday at
385 pounds. If I could do it, you can.
Incidentally, you'll find that men and women at gyms are there to work
out, not to gawk at other patrons. Also, going regularly gives you a
certain amount of respect among the 'serious' members. You'll find very
few 'perfect' bodies there; most of the members are there to improve
themselves, and they respect people who devote the time and effort to
exercising.
Also, how are you going to improve those social skills unless you
socialize? If you don't know how to break the ice, ask a question. Or
ask "Good workout?" to someone in the locker room.

You can do plenty of exercises at home. Here's a site while geared toward
women still works just fine for men too that will help you get started: http://www.stumptuous.com/cms/index.php
Once you get more comfortable with the exercise thing another great site is http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html where you can find different kinds
of exercises to target the areas you want to work. Not all include weights
though weights are not a bad thing. At home I use dumbbells and resistance
bands in addition to bodyweight exercises. Also - make sure you stretch!!!
That's the biggest mistake beginners make, not stretching afterward. I've
done some wicked damage to my hip and rotator cuff from skipping the
stretching.
Start checking out garage sales or online to pick up used weight sets, a
bench, etc. and then you don't need to set foot in a gym. I'm not sure what
social skills you're lacking to go to a gym (trust me, it's not a social
occasion in most cases), but maybe if you start working out and build up
some confidence it won't be an issue any longer.
With regards to your loose skin - there's a lot of factors going on there
(genetics, age, history). You're lucky that you're young. It may simply
tighten up over time with exercise, but you will need to give it time. Keep
it moisturized. Also beware, there's a lot of false information out there,
especially by one kook in this group. Listen to your own physicians with
regards to your ideal weight. Keep in mind that if you build muscle and
work to lose fat, it will help. Simply losing weight isn't going to get rid
of body fat because you can still be "skinny fat."
Hope this helps.

You're a 5'7" male wearing size 30 jeans. Don't drop any more weight,
you're fine. Once you get below that waist size you'll have a tough
time finding mens clothes and boys clothes are going to fit
uncomfortably because of "cheap Castle" (no ballroom).
The problem is you weren't really interested in losing weight, you were
more interested in body sculpting (getting rid of your moobs)and thought
you could do so by losing weight. It's a common mistake. Your solution
is to build muscle to backfill where the fat used to reside. Your skin
will slowly shrink or tighten but that process will take as long as
building muscle. Don't be surprised if you start gaining weight back as
you put on muscle but your waist size should remain between 29-30" so
the additional weight will not look like flab or a gut.
You'll have to get over your fear of the gym as free weights will be
your best exercise choice to fix your problem.
Good luck!

You don't have to a gym to workout. I hate gyms and I workout every
day. Get out and walk. You have plenty of fat still, so just bywalking,
you're doing weight-bearing exercises. Start by walking 10 minutes,
then add 5 minutes. Try to walk up and down hills, if you have them.
Speed up until you're breaking a sweat and breathing hard. Make sure
you have some comfy walking shoes.
This is a good start. |

You are right about the boys pants not fitting as well in the
crotch...too tight. Also there is the style which is often too flashy
or juvenile, plus the pockets are not deep enough for a wallet, keys,
etc. Also they are usually too short. Having said that, with the newer
styles out there, if you shop, you can find size 18 in boys that is
similar to size 28 mens with none of the above problems. Dickies sold
at Kohls has a size 18 that looks just like adult jeans buy comes in 32
length and isn't tight in the crutch. Also, many mens jeans do come in
size 29 and 28, including Wrangler and Rustler, both sold at Walmart. I
wear size 28, length 32. Still, size 30 is a small size as you say.
Surely he isn't very flabby at size 30 and if he is, it may be more a
case of needing more exercises that target those areas such as sit ups
and those machines that target the pectorals. It sure worked for me. dkw |

Sit-ups do not spot reduce the stomach. They're a great core strength
exercise for posture and supporting the lower back but they do not
reduce belly fat alone.
