Default Need some ideas for vacation

Kinda new to the dieting thing...I'm trying hard to stick with the 6
meals per day thing while eating healthier as well. So far it's
working great but I'll be on vacation in vegas for a week coming up
and really don't want to blow my diet. I can't really afford to keep
stopping at restaurants every 2-3 hours and don't want to spend alot
of time doing this either...so what are my options? What do you guys
do when you're on vacation as far as small meals go?

When we were in Vegas last summer we had a hotel room with a
refrigerator and microwave, and kept breakfast things and snack foods
in the room. In general we ate only our dinners in restaurants, and
focused mostly on places where we could get seafood or lighter fare.

If you're not spending much time anywhere near your room I suppose
snacks could be a problem. We spent a lot of our time just lounging
around the pool, so our room was just upstairs (and of course we could
bring things down there with us).

That said, I've always allowed myself to indulge a bit on vacations
(like, had some margaritas and such at the pool in Vegas). Some
people find it works better to never deviate from their plan; I've
always been a bit more flexible about it, but it works anyway :-). You
need to see what makes you feel more comfortable.

I don't eat a lot of meals out when I'm on vacation. I find the
nearest grocery store and stock up on things I can use in my hotel
room, if I have one. I also do a lot of camping, so then I have to
plan everything ahead of time.

Vegas really lends itself to a LOT of walking.

DH and I tend to avoid the buffets. We do stock up our hotel room with fruit
and water and then have really good dinners. Generally on vacation I have
oatmeal in my room for breakfast and then try to stick with fruit and other
healthier options (salads, etc.) until dinner. I also spend most of my time
walking or some other physical activity - in Vegas & Florida I golf. Some
vacations we bring our bikes.

Go to a grocery store and get something appropriate for at least some of
your meals. Last time I was there, we went out and got apples, water,
yogurt, instant oatmeal (I brought bowls and we got hot water and coffee
at Starbucks).
