Default NEW TO THIS GROUP---LOOKING FOR SUPPORT.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this group and just wanted to tell you a little about
myself. I am 30 yrs old.
I need to lose 100lbs and have started my healthy eating plan on Nov
2nd. I am pretty much
following the "Biggest Loser" diet plan. I bought a their book and the
calorie counter book.
More so, I am trying to change my life from eating take out food and
sweets to a MUCH
more healthier lifestyle. I am making wiser choices definately. I am
in my 2nd week and still
going strong. My first week I dropped 8 lbs., I was happy. I am an
emotional eater and
many of the times I would eat I WOULDNT BE HUNGRY. I just ate for
boredom or
for many other reasons than actually being hungry. I have gained all
this
weight over the past 6 years and I just couldnt stand it anymore. I
love the BIGGEST
LOSER and watch the show every week, its very motivating. If anyone
has any advice, tips,
information or encouraging words please send them my way. I have read
some of the
disscusions and alot of you people have lost alot of weight and seem so
encouraging.
WAY TO GO---KEEP IT UP AND GOOD LUCK.

Thanks--J

Hi j,

Welcome to the group! I am a 58 year old woman who lost around 130
lbs. a few years ago and hs kept it off since. It sounds like you're
off to a good start on changing your lifestyle. I think you'll find
this group a big help in getting ideas that will work for you and in
providing motivation an encouragement. Keep posting, ask questions,
and join in the discussion!

No magic -- just eating less and exercising more. More specifically, I
counted calories and increased cardio activity. It took about two
years to lose the weight. Something I also did -- and still do -- was
post my daily food and exercise log to this group. Someone else
started this a few years ago and I joined in. She stopped after a bit;
I didn't. I find it helps me to feel I need to be accountable.

You'll hear more from me if you stick around :-).

What are you eating now, and what exercise are you getting?

Great! I started about the same time... October 30th.

I've never heard of the show, but I found an article. According to a
doctor who helped develop their weight loss plan, 60% of their weight
loss comes from reducing their calories from 3000 to 1500 per day, and
40% comes from exercising 3 hours per day. He said, "People in the show
are in a fantasy, unrealistic environment where everything is optimized
for weight loss."

I've found Crystal Lite to be an excellent substitute for the empty
calories in soda, and of course getting more exercise helps with more
than weight loss. It's all about making better life choices that you
can live with for the long-term. Good luck, and glad you found us.
