Default a new Trader Joe's favorite

I can't remember who, but someone here recommended TJ's frozen seafood. The
other day I picked up frozen shrimp, scallops, and mmmmm stuffed salmon. I
have been thawing portions of the shrimp as a high protein low fat snack
with some of TJ's cocktail sauce. I find the shrimp to be of above average
quality compared to the stuff from my local grocer. The scallops were
really good baked last night with dinner, and the salmon is just to die for.
I got some that was stuffed with cream cheese and cucumbers. It comes in
under 300 calories and around 28g of protein. We're talking $3 for a
gourmet meal! Compare that with your average frozen diet meal, that usually
doesn't even taste that good. I add some fresh steamed veggies and it's a
quick hearty tasty healthy meal.

Thanks for the tip!

I need to make a trip to TJ's. I love salmon and it sounds delicious.

I also need to watch the calories a little bit more during the holiday
season. I'm biking less due to cold weather and there are just too
many social events with lots of goodies this time of year

The salmon sounds good, but there is cholesterol in both cream cheese
and shrimp. Easy for me to point out, because I can't stand shrimp or
cream cheese. Wild salmon, whatever that is, was on food on the
Superfoods list book a couple of years ago. Growing up in the midwest,
I still cannot get past the smell of fish or the way a home smells
after someone has cooked it. Regarding cheese: after milking a few
hundred cows for several years, I developed an aversion to milk too. It
smells like the cows hooves to this day. Amazing the associations we
make with food. Never met anyone who did not like sugar though
including stories of the Native Americans when they were first
introduced to it and would smile which was uncharacterisitic of their
stoic demeanor. dkw

I feel silly... I had no idea that shrimp had cholesterol in it! I always
associated cholesterol with fatty items. But cholesterol isn't much of an
issue here - there is a miniscule amt of shrimp in the salmon, and not a
large amt of cream cheese either. I definitely have an aversion to fishy
smelling fish - and most salmon has that smell. Halibut is better as far as
the smell goes, but doesn't have the omegas. I grew up next door to a
dairy, we used to take our wagon next door and bring home gallon sized
pickle jars full of raw milk. mmmm. still warm from the cow! I'll bet I
couldn't drink it now!
