Default Report from Boston

Hi, people. I just wanted to touch base, even though I didn't post a
regular "weigh-in" report on Friday.

My family were VERY surprised when I showed up here in Boston! And
thanks to the person in the donut shop I-don't-know-where who led a
very lost person around the maze of Boston after I got so confused by
the roads you can't imagine.

My sister didn't have a scale, so I bought her the same one I got for
myself in St. Louis. It seems to be different by about 1 lb from the
one there, but I'm not sure. I probably will never know.

It seemed for the first few days here I was gaining weight! I am not
sure why. I definitely was sticking to within my calorie limits. But I
was eating lots of "fake sweet" things my sister likes keeping in the
house, like artificially sweetened fudgesicles (80 calories each). The
scale was showing me gaining about 2 lb in a few days (!) so all I did
was stop eating those and my weight dropped right down again.

Are the calories on those artificially sweetened ice creams accurate?

Anyway, my diet is going well. For Thanksgiving I got a pre-packed box
of Tyson Turkey slices in gravy (380 calories for the box) and heated
it in the microwave. I was perfectly happy, and had a very low calorie
Thanksgiving.

I went to get some new shirts and I am definitely well within the L
range now. The saleslady eyeballed me and said "medium or L size".
Anyway, an ordinary L sized shirt I got yesterday seems to be just fine
on me - reasonably loose and comfortable, without being too large. 16
neck / 32-33. I never used to pay any attention at all to shirt size
details like that - basically whatever tent would drape me was fine.
That was because measuring my neck was ridiculous - it was my torso and
stomach that would not fit in! But now the standard measurements
seem to work, so great! I might even be a medium at some point...

Waist size seems to be 36" now for a comfortable pants fit. I think I
was like 52" when I started!

More later...

Congratulations!

Doug, what is your current weight? I'm trying to match sizes to weights
so I can better estimate what I may wind up at.

great to hear from you, sounds like it is going nicely. as to the
fudgecicles... I am beginning to think part of my not losing was using
splenda, it appears that if I lay off it I do much better, like my body
treats it just like white sugar, you may not be able to eat them for water
retention, Lee, waiting for your call when you get back to STL...

Mostly, I had them only today and only one pack at work, but I brought
carrots! So it kept me from going back for more.

I'm very very much on track these days and appreciating it. It's "easy"
right now and I'm not craving anything.. so... I enjoy it while it passes..
hehe
