Default Sea food in my diet

I've added two things to my diet today: Canned smoked mussels and
smoked oysters.

Reading the labels:

Mussels: 1 can (65g) with cottonseed oil has 110 calories and gives
you 50% of your daily of iron.

I read that this is not a healty oil. I don't know if the 110 calories
include the calories of the oil.

Oysters: 1 can (65g) with vegetable oil (does not specify which
one...) has 120 calories and gives you 90% of your daily need of iron.

One tablespoon of just about any type of oil will have right around
100 calories. So if you want to check if the oil calories are included
in the total, drain off the oil and measure it.

It's pretty obvious to me that the calories quoted on the can do *not*
include the oil.

I didn't realize that. I don't eat seafood, but I wonder about things
like natural peanut butter. There it even tells you to mix in all that
oil on the top. It seems like if you drained it off, you would be
reducing the calories a whole bunch, like 500 calories or so per small
jar. It might even be lower in calories that way than the "reduced fat
peanut butter" . There are 16 Tablespoons in a cup and a cup of
vegetable oil has 1927 calories, so each T. has 120 cal. One source
says there are 1909 cal. in a cup of peanut oil. By weight, I think
all the fats and oils are the same....3500 cal per pound. dkw

The cost is texture. The result will harden. Maybe try to take
from the bottom somehow?

About the same calories, but types of fat matters. There are
essential
polyunsaturated types and the other types are not essential. If you
work at reducing total fat, the more you do it the more the types of
fat matter, all without effecting total calories gotten by the
reduction.
