| | | Shanghaied Literally. I've been called to give a sudden training session in
Shanghai. I'm flying there tomorrow and returning Friday.
I guess I better bring a Chinese food calorie book with me!
Lately I've been sticking perfectly with my diet, but have reached
stasis hovering between 80.5 and 81.5 kg.

weight you are home free as you are doing what works. after you have been
there for a while you can determine if you want to change something to lose
more... may or may not be worth it, good luck on your trip, Lee

| | | Re: Shanghaied Have a great trip. There are so many interesting things to see and do.
A Chinese calorie food book sounds great but once you have an idea of
basic foods you will like for your meals and snacks, it shouldn't be a
problem.

| | | Re: Shanghaied I'm back from Shanghai!
Well, I did very well considering (1) there were no calories written
anywhere and (2) half the time I didn't know what I was eating and (3)
I didn't realize it when I went but they are well into preparations
for Chinese New Years and there were parties and banquets at every
turn!
And the food in Shanghai is DELICIOUS!!!
What I did was:
(1) I had a very low calorie breakfast at the hotel in the morning -
they had a "healthy breakfast" with things like an egg white omelet
with mushrooms and grilled tomatoes, cereal with skim milk, etc. I can
estimate those calories easily.
(2) For lunch and the party banquet my strategy was this: there were
some things that were clearly low calorie, like grilled prawns, tofu,
mushrooms and eggplant dishes So I made those my main dishes. And I
just "tried" little samples of EVERYTHING else, which were all
delicious and obviously high calorie and fried stuff. But I just took
a little spoon-sized portion of those things. And I just recorded
reasonable/liberal calorie estimates based on experience with low and
high calorie foods.
(3) I walked a lot. The first day I arrived I walked for 4.5 hours all
over the place.
I doubt I was really accurate within 50% of the true calories, but at
least I kept track as best I could.
Anyway, I'm happy to say that when I got back to Tokyo that my weight
this morning was the same as Wednesday morning, which isn't bad for
three days in Shanghai!

You did well. I think I'll be in Shanghai this summer as part of a 10
day vacation.

| | | Re: Shanghaied good for you, and I bet you were closer on the calories than you think. DH
and I have done a test, we each say what the points of a meal out is, say at
a buffet, then we look it up in the WW data base... we aren't perfect, but
we are both usually within 1 or 2 points of a big meal that has lots of half
c and 1 TBS things, Lee
