Default Way too few calories

I'm probably pushing to hard with my diet right now. I started it with
a lot of june pruice on Day 1 and 2. I've lost about three pounds
during those two days. Then I went very low calorie. It's not that I
was trying not to eat. It's that I did not feel to eat. I've just
finished my Day 5. My food was limited to grapes, kale, tuna,
tomatoes, oranges, watermelon, pineapple, prune juice, almond butter,
olive oil in my salad, romaine lettuce grapefruit juice in bottle, and
walnut. I drank about 500ml of water a day. Not much, I know... I
exercised lightly each day.

This is my calorie intake for each day:

Day 1: 1350
Day 2: 1650
Day 3: 950
Day 4: 700
Day 5: 1100.

The calorie average is 1150 calories on a period of 5 days. I've had
some dizziness yesterday and today.

I'm increasing my calories from tomorrow onwards. I'll start with 1700
calories until I average 1500 calories. I don't want to put my health
in jeapordy any more than what I already did. My weight was 180 pounds
on Day 1 and tonight is 174. The belly has visibly shrinked.

Jillian Michaels says men should not taken in less than 1700 calories
a day--in case you care what she says.

Congrats on the loss!

However, I agree this is not enough calories for you. This will help you
loose weight for a week, maybe even two, but by then your body will go
into starvation-mode and burn calories very slowly. Then when you start
eating in a regular pattern again, all the weight will come right back,
plus some more.

When you go biking to work (other thread), you will need to take in more
calories for the exercising, and drink at least twice the amount of
water. Else you will loose weight because of water loss, and eventually
your body will not burn only fat, but also muscle. That is the opposite
of what you want. Feeling dizzy is definitely a sign you're pushing it
too hard.

Thanks, Eowyn. It's now noon. What I've eaten so far is grapes (350
cal), papaya (150 cal) and an orange (30 cal) for a total of 530
calories. I want to reach 1700 calories by the end of the day.

From now on, I want to have only fruits, veggies, fish and nuts. A
steak or chicken once a week would be welcome as well. I love a juicy
steak!!

Mike,

Take note of what Eowyn says above about calorie counting and the body
going into starvation mode - when that happens you will stop losing
weight or at least your weight loss will be very slow. This will then
give you the feeling that you are "suffering" a lot for very little
gain.

Rather than counting the calories that you eat (or do not eat),
perhaps you should try "calorie shifting" instead. This system
prevents the body from estimating how many calories it will get
tomorrow and therefore how many calories it can burn today. By
"randomly" changing the number of calories that you eat each day the
body just burns calories at its normal rate. Hence the weight loss
happens more easily. It is certainly working for me - and with the
Diet Generator it is very easy to do.

Further details are available at www.DietGenerator.homestead.com,
where you can see what my progress is like.

Sorry if this repeats some of the information that I sent you in an
email, but I felt that I should repeat this for all in case others
find it useful.

Georges

I'm still alive! I lost 60 pounds in 5 days! lol, not true. Well,
I've been eating way too much in the last week. I'm at 178, so it's
not that bad. I just got my bike yesterday. I start using it this
upcoming Monday to commute to work. That's 33kms one-way. I'm pretty
sure I'll get to my goal, 165 pounds, at the end of summer. Today I
had a big bag of Cheese Doritos. It's funny that when I stop eating my
salads (romaine lettuce and tomatoe), I start eating junk food...
