I have been living a new way of life since May 12 when I found out my blood
pressure was very, very high. I have lost 74 pounds to date and feel much
better than I have in over a decade. I got the book because it sounded like
a good read and I had seen the authors on television and was interested in
their theory about the waist measurement being a more informative
measurement than one's weight. Some of the suggestions--such as eating the
same breakfast and lunch every day--I had already begun. The 30 minutes of
walking was something I also did already--although it isn't always walking.
During the summer it was swimming, and in inclement weather I use a
treadmill or ride my recumbent exercise bike. The food choices and
suggestions are very close to what I already do. The information on how the
body works and the brain chemicals that affect weight, hunger, etc, were
very interesting. I finished reading the book last week, and will read it
again when school is out for winter break and I have some relaxation time.
I think it is well worth reading.
As for fiber in juice, most apple juice does not contain fiber. That is one
of the reasons that doctors say that juice is not the best option for
children. Parents think that they are promoting health--but juice contains
a lot of sugar (fructose). There are juices out there with "added fiber,"
but it makes much more sense just to eat the fruit and get the great fiber
that naturally occurs there. That pulpy part that is left after you squeeze
out the juice is where the fiber is.
