The German server costs a whopping $16 a year. No-one needs to use a
portal like google.
Priscilla
P.S. This is my new nick, since my mother has been spying on my posts
via regular google. She doesn't know a newsgroup from a hole in the
ground, but she can google on my full name. So please don't put my
whole name into a post in a thread which includes this new nick. Thanks. |

Priscilla, my sincere sympathy on your mother's new hobby. Both of my
parents felt they had a right to read my mind as well as my words from
day 1. I have had very little contact with them since they went into
assisted living in 2005. My father died in April of this year, and my
main emotion was liberation. I no longer have contact with her since I
skipped his funeral. Bonne chance,

Originally he was my philosophy teacher when I was a sophomore in
college. We were married a half year after I graduated. He was married
and living separately when we met, and he divorced so we could be
married. Back then (1975) we were responsible for child support and
maintenance, so we did not consider adopting. I don't remember we ever
discussed fostering either. By the 1990's he and possibly I would
probably have been considered too old.
Yes, all told, we were very happy.

I was up visiting a week ago, and at one point she said, "By the way,
I've known you have diabetes for a few years now." "Oh," I replied.
"You googled me." "Yes," she said. Then she went on to say some stuff
that demonstrated that she'd *kept* reading over the years. It didn't
occur to her, apparently, that the fact that I hadn't told her I had
diabetes might have meant I wanted to keep that information private from
her.
My therapist found this fascinating, and not in a good way. (Imagine
Mr. Spock with his raised eyebrow.... and a German accent.)

Hmmm - well, one tactic would be to mess with her and start
posting something really outrageous under your googlable name ...

And then there's Benidorm's infamous "Sticky Vicky". "Sticky Vicky"
is a 65-year-old adult entertainer who works in Benidorm with her
daughter. As one person put it, she "fires ping pong balls out of
places other than her mouth". Other tricks include the use razor
blades and fire."
There's a few videos of her on YouTube.
She was quite the subject of conversation at work recently as two of
my (female) colleagues have just (separately) holidayed there.
Apparently they thought the act .... "quite classy". :-/
