Default Chills

Are chills a meno symptom? I've been having them on and off ever
since we started tampering with my HRT.

I'm much happier on the estradiol and progesterone cream (all three
days worth by now), but the chills have started again. If this is
something likely to settle down after a while, I can just wait it
out. It's not knowing that's so very confusing. I am not having hot
flashes.

Thanks,

Pat

Yes, chills are - well, can be - a meno feature. I didn't know this until I
experienced them & read about them here on asm. One hears about hot flashes
& night sweats, but for some reason never seems to hear about cold flashes
or general chills.

I've had the kind where I've been just generally cold all day - weird for me
since I'm hyper-T & so if anything tend to run too warm, and I've had the
type where they alternate with hot flashes & last about the same length of
time as a hot flash - a few/several minutes each. They tended to be
"chilled-to-the-bone" chills.

I had a year or two where I occasionally woke up with a "cold
flash." I would wake up shivering, with my teeth chattering. I
wasn't damp, had plenty of covers, and the bedroom wasn't cold.
The chill would pass when I got up and moved around a little, so
it didn't last for more than a few minutes.

I also had much more frequent hot flashes and night sweats. My
thermoregulation was just wacked out. I wasn't taking any HT at
the time, and the the cold flashes disappeared as mysteriously as
they appeared.

I have also had these. They usually happen to me at night. I turn on the
electric blanket nice and hot until it goes away. I first remember having
these during the hormone free-fall that happened after having my two babies.
Thank God for electric blankets.

I did have cold/freezing flashes before I ever had warm ones, and then
intermittently. This can be just meno, or it can be thyroid or
cortisol, too. I'd give the new regimen some weeks for your body to
adjust and see if it all shakes out a bit more by then.

I agree - and since I'm now spotting, it's just proof I guess that
everything is all muddled up right now.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with chills! Thanks, everyone.
