| | | Happy PMS cream Anyone have experience with this stuff? The naturopath I am currently
seeing has told me I need it due to low progesterone. The other naturopath
that I see (she owns the health food store where I shop) also thought I
might need progesterone cream and sold me some stuff. I did use it but saw
no benefit. Then I realized it was pretty much like the wild yam cream I
had tried on my own and saw no benefit from that either.
My only real symptoms are tiredness (have other medical issues including
sleep apnea), hair loss, bad memory, and inability to lose weight despite
reducing calories.
I don't think I've had any hot flashes. My mom keeps telling me I am having
them but I don't think so. She is chronically cold and any time I say I am
too warm, she thinks I am having one. I have asked my friends who have gone
through menopause and looked it up on the internet but do not feel I am
having these.
What is this cream supposed to do for you? Thanks! Oh... Also I do not
feel I have PMS such as the name implies. |

I can't answer your main question, but....
Unless they're very mild - as my first few were, believe me, you'll *know*
when you're having hot flashes! ;-) It feels like some extremely annoying
little guy who resides in the center of your chest decides at whim to turn
the thermostat up, -way- up, to about... 120F. You feel normal one minute,
& a minute or two later feel way too warm, until you're absolutely
*roasting* a minute or two after that. A few minutes later... back to
normal.

I didn't have the emotional sort of PMS - but did have the physical symptoms
sort: lower backache & slightly crampy. Even in post-meno I *still*
experience that - like under-the-radar cycles - now & then, which I really
do not like. Enough is enough, AFAIC.

Nope. The only time I had anything like that was when I was hyperthyroid
due to waaaay too large a dose of thyroid meds. Once the meds were lowered,
that all stopped. And it wasn't quite like that because once I got too hot
it was next to impossible to get cooled back down.

The only times I've had a backache were when I did something in taking a
huge ham out of the oven. Something sort of caught up in my lower back.
When a large, drunk guy sat in my lap, ground himself back and forth,
refusing to get up and having to be removed from me...I was pregnant at the
time. And a few years ago following a chiropractic adjustment. I turned
suddenly and felt something in my back sort of like go the wrong way.
I had some cramps at the start of my pregnancy and now will have occasional
cramps on the first few days of my period, but generally not. I do get
occasional migraines, usually at the start of my period. But no real
emotional issues. |

I'm on tapazole (tiny dose at this point - was diagnosed in '98) for
hyper-T, so know what you mean. That's a general too warm/hot feeling, not
isolated flashes of intense heat.

Yeah - that's a different scenario - & type of ache/pain, really. (BTDT
with the back "out"- but not the oafish lecherous guy - ickkk!)

You're lucky, re: the lack of all-too-often cramps! But not re: the
migraines.

…with this tells me you should get your thyroid checked.
The symptoms of hypothyroidism and menopause are very similar, but what
you describe above (hair loss, bad memory, weight gain you can't budge,
but no female problems to speak of) are exactly what my mother had
before she found out she had hypothyroidism. Once medicated, she was
able to get her energy back and her weight back down to a healthier
level. Menopause didn't bother her much.
You certainly should make sure it's not your thyroid first, and if it
isn't then you can assume it's perimenopause. Several of us here have
proceded in that way, myself included.

Julie was previously diagnosed as being hyperthyroid - mentioned in a reply
post to mine.

I did and did again and did again today. Have yet to hear back on the last
two results. First one said T4 was off but the Dr. said she didn't like
that lab. So why did she use it? Dunno,.

I have been both hypo and hyper thyroid. Endo. checks this regularly and it
has been in range since I've been off the meds. On the lowest dose of Levoxyl I was hyper.
The hair loss started when I started on insulin. Not sure about the memory
loss. I can't remember! Hahaha. I do feel there is a connection between
the insulin and the hair loss. Also gained weight on the insulin. Which I
knew was going to happen.

As I said... I do get it checked every 4 months. |

I was tested again today. Endo. also said he ran some new tests but I don't
know what they were as I didn't get a chance to see the labs. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
