Default Hormone options

Hi to all

Has anyone used hormonal skin patches ? Are they affective? What
symptoms has it helped you with? Are they a short or long term
deal ?

I am struggling with big-time tension, tiredness, aching muscles,
headaches and a sudden loss of libido.

Also has anyone in the group used natural progesterone cream ? Would
you recommend it ?

Jane

The otc stuff is not strong enough. If it was, it wouldn't be
available otc. OTOH, there is a new study showing that that old baddy
Provera might just be an answer.

Here's Jerilynn Prior's webpage. Some of her ideas about menopause are
definitely different than what we usually hear. I've been following
her story ever since I heard her on the CBC radio talking about
menopause (and peri menopause) over ten years ago.

But isn't that the stuff that makes you irritable as all hell? I think
I'd rather have flashes.

Jerilyn Prior is exactly like Dr John Lee, advocating another hormone,-
progesterone - the be all and end all, in place of estrogen. In the end it's
the same type of thinking.

Default Re: Hormone options

I've used progesterone cream, several diferent brands, at various
times over the years. If it's had an effect on anything, it's very
subtle. Have also used standardized black cohosh and red clover,
evening primrose oil, chastetreeberry, dong quai, etc. etc. with ditto
results. I've also eaten tons of tofu and swilled oceans of soy milk
the last 15 years, ditto.
The only thing that's helped my hot flashes and sex difficulties is
estradiol. Sad but true. I take a half-dose, .5 mg. a day. That's
enough. Any more, and my boobs get all fibrocystic like they were pre-
meno. Have taken it 2 years now; two autumns in a row I've tried to
wean off it, only to conclude I'll be stuck a while longer.
Good luck,
Les
