Default I just want it to stop

Good morning girls - I need your wisedom.

Think I've just been hit by the "great big hormone swing". Up until
last month my cycle has been regular 26 to 30 days, 5 days of steady
flow, no big fluctuations. A few night sweats and headaches but beyond
that life in peri was easy.

Ah!! but I was getting comfortable too soon with the idea that "the
change" for me was going to be straight forward.

On 14th of December my period started and has continued (and is still
flowing) for 15 days - last 4 days being very heavy, with clots
yesterday and this morning. To put it mildly, I am not happy.

Knowing that some of you have faced a similar situation I need your
help.

1. The FIRST TIME you had days and days and days of blood loss - how
many days was it and did you go to your doctor about the problem ?

2. If you went to your doctor did he/she advise you to : do nothing
(only give advice) : order tests or prescribe medication ?

I don't know whether to consult my GP or to just let nature take it's
course.

Thank you so much for your help.

Jane

Hi all - update on my situation

Had an appointment with my doctor this morning and in a nut shell.

He said : with irregular long periods it could be just ratty hormones,
it could be thickening of the lining of the uterus requiring a D&C or
it could be cancer. So now I am having a pelvic ultra sound next week
and a visit to the gyny as soon as I can make an appointment (they are
on holidays till next week).

In the meantime - I have to just "go with the flow" so to speak. Ah!!
well, day 17, 18, 19 ..... can't be all that much worse than day 16.

I would imagine most everyone is either visiting or entertaining family
and not spending much time here. Can't explain why you had to answer
yourself otherwise ;-)

I just want to tell you that although I have not gone through anything
even approaching your predicament -- only one period that 'dragged on'
for 8 or 9 days in little dribs and drabs that was nothing more than a
nuisance -- I do sympathize. I read some of the symptoms of peri here
and....well....I count myself lucky.

Happy New Year to everyone.
