Default My test results

Got the results of my blood test. My Triglycerides are still high 189...but
lower than 3 months ago 250. She put me on a Crestor...she said my co-pay
will probably be higher but this one works best on diabetics.
My LDL was 112...she wants it lower.
HDL...45...ok but could be better.
Overall Chol was 188.The results show my Microalbumin is high...30 (what is
this?)
but my Albumin/CR was <30...so that is ok

AIC is 6.2 she was ok with that. She said if it creeps up any more we'll try
something else with my Metformin since I can't take Byetta.
I think I will like this new Dr

I was just about to recommend that you head on over to
alt.support.diabetes. :-)

But your Total/HDL ratio is nearly 5, which is super - that means all
your particles are large and fluffy, just like you want. I'd hold off on
the Crestor for a while. Do you low-carb? Because if you do, after a
while your liver panel will improve tremendously, and you won't need the
statin.

Just my $.02, of course.

Wow, you have better numbers than I do!! And I just went on insulin
about 6 weeks ago. I used to take glucophage and amaryl. My A1C
was 7.5 yesterday. And microalbumin is sugar in the urine I think...

We have been holding off on Crestor for a long while but the Dr wants the
numbers to look much better. They want Diabetics to have a much lower LDL
then non diabetics. I do lower carb...I refuse to do low carb..it's just to
difficult for me. My Mother had high Chol...and it didn't show up until her
late 50's I am starting to believe this may be genetic. My Chol has always
been pretty good until the last year or so...just like what happened to my
Mom

I was happy with my A1C I think my last one was 6.6 the lab suggests 6. When
I was first diagnosed my A1C was a 9. I got it down to 4.7(I think my Dr
wanted to do a flip when he saw that number...LOL)...but the older I get the
more it starts creeping up. I am hoping I won't ever have to go on the
Insulin...I'm really bad about learning new stuff..LOL. I know people who
are doing well on insulin.

Just understand that "they" are the drug sellers. There is absolutely
no evidence that medicating to lower numbers reduces mortality from CVD
at all, and Crestor has harmed so many people there have been calls to
take it off the market. It harms kidneys and according to your
microalbumin, yours are already hurting badly.

It's not okay, I'm sorry. Microalbumin are small protein particles. It
means your blood glucose has been so high for so long that your kidneys
have sustained, and are continuing to accumulate damage. This is your
chance to reverse the march toward dialysis. You're going to have to
reconsider your commitment to eating too many carbs if you want to
reverse the damage, and it can be done. I did it.

The risk of heart attack begin to rise at every A1c point above 4.6%.
6.1% is associated with a much higher risk of DM complications and even
the ADA recommends lower than that, and their standards aren't
considered stringent enough by the world science community. In fact,
Medline is full of citations of peripheral neuropathy, retinopathy, and
kidney damage in people the ADA only calls "pre diabetic."

The something else you might consider trying is less carbs (will drop
your triglycerides like a rock) and more exercise, if you're not getting
any/enough. Learning to eat low carb is a lot less grueling than living
with kidney failure, which is a slow, miserable, torturous path to a
hellish end.

Well, my main concern was the needle. I don't mind them, but 2 shots
everyday??? Geesh. And of course, I couldn't imagine giving myself a
shot. I am here to tell you that a shot of insulin with a 31G needle
is not felt. I don't feel the needle. And it is very easy to learn
how to do the whole thing. My BGs have come down and I am in much
better control.

By the way, it is a rare diabetic bird that doesn't eventually end up
on insulin one day. Just thought I would throw that in....

Have you ever taken a statin drug before? If you haven't pay close
attention to how you feel after a month or so. I have tried a couple
of different statin drugs, Lipitor and Crestor. After about a month or
two I started having trouble breathing and then came the muscle pains.
I am now off statins. My cardiologist said some people can't take them
at all. I am one.

I just wanted to say that if you start having strange
symptoms....think Crestor. Hopefully you are one of those that can
take it...because it really works.

Thanks Dana..I know that feeling well...shortness of breath happened to me
on ARB, my Dr said it was a sign of allergies.. I can't take Ace Inhibitors
either..Gave me a terrible Serum rash..my Dr said those rashes can be
dangerous especially if they get into the throat..can cause hemorrhaging. I
think the antibodies attack the blood..it is a blood rash...took forever to
get rid of it . I still have little round scars not many, but just enough to
remind me of it So I can't take anything to protect the kidneys it seems.
I really hate starting new drugs because it seems that more and more
allergies are showing up the older I get.

I was on Byetta for awhile..another drug that gave me real lousy side
affects. Remember that surgery I had to take my adrenal gland out..well it
left parts of my stomach numb so that's where the Byetta needles went..no
pain at all..LOL.

Now that's a positive side effect.

Yes, me too. I have never been an allergic person, never, but now I
am getting that way. It's for the birds.
