| | | OT: Chile: June 6, 1991 - May 17, 2008 We said good-bye to Chile at noon today. She's hung in there
with her bad hips, knees, spine and heart for so long, but her
poor little body was giving out. She was having difficulty
walking and eating and drinking, was nearly blind and showing
more and more confusion, and she had not eaten for a couple of
days. And then this morning she began vomiting. We so wanted to
diagnose and treat this last thing, but we knew that it was time,
probably past time. It was so hard to let her go.
Sweet, spunky, independent little Chile. We think that she was
trying to outlive that interloper, Oppie. Lap-melder, tummy dog,
defender of the gate, stuffed bunny-gutter, boss of the other
dogs, joined at the hip with her litter-mate Gordo. She could
relax so completely, I wanted to be able to extract that 'relax'
and bottle it. When I tickled her tummy, it had to be just so,
and if I put my fingers in the wrong spot, she'd push them to the
correct place with her paw. She has left a huge hole in our hearts. http://picasaweb.google.com/furrealp...nsSweetSixteen

Oh, FP - I'm very sorry about Chile's death.
From what you've said, I think you were right, re: time. IMO/E, that part
helps a lot.

So sorry you finally got to the point that you had to let her go. She
had a good life with you. And vice-versa. Thanks for telling us about
her.

I'm so sorry. Our beloved companions leave such large holes in our lives
when they go. It is wonderful to have so many lovely memories of her.

Awww, it's so hard to say goodbye, and she was with you for so very
long. It's hard not to keep trying to patch them up and let them go for
good.
I had to laugh out loud when I saw her birthday portrait, talk about fat
and happy!
So sorry for the loss.

Condolence, 'Paw, for your loss. Chile sounds like one of those cat
classics, hard to replace. I'm sure she had a wonderful life and a
great home.

she had just been fed a larger than usual birthday dinner; she
weighed about 7 lb then, a good size for her, being a larger than
average chihuahua.
But one day when she was about 4, before Dylan (German Shepherd)
had learned not to walk away from her food, Chile cleaned Dylan's
dish. I can't find the photo from then, but her little tummy
ballooned out to near bursting. Chile later told me that that
was THE ONLY DAY IN HER ENTIRE LIFE THAT SHE GOT ENOUGH TO EAT!!!

LOL - My cat Debbie ('85-'01) didn't eat to live, she lived to eat. I think
she would've been able to see Chile's POV re: food, with no problem. ;-)

I'm so sorry. I just saw this. Sounds like she had some good years
with you folks and that she basked in a lot of love. How could life be
better than that?
