LOL! Funny and disgusting at the same time.

Odd that on another newsgroup someone was just saying that houses don't
seem to have basements any more. (She lives in southern California.) I
wonder where the sprinklebrigaders in her area live. :-)

Not in my house! Most people here just have a crawl space - the
bedrock is too close to the surface to make it economically
feasible to build a basement. Too bad - we are so far from a
flood zone and the water table is so low that a dry basement
would be almost guaranteed!

Agreed!

Uh, did California homes ever have basements?

In the den. Or above the garage.

Don't know, but I also don't know where she lived as a child.

Well, I did live in California as a kid, and never in a house with a
basement, so I'm going to assume that's the standard.

This is vile, and I have to admit my feelings are hurt that you headlined it
"Only in NYC." Seems to me the capital of gross-out humor is a bit further
south. Like, Texas.

Hey!

Remember, the only reason that Texas doesn't slide into the Gulf of Mexico
is because Oklahoma sucks!

:-)

(thus far, I've lived in NY for 29 years, NJ for 1 year, Colorado for 1
year, Michigan for 6 years, and Texas for 19 years)

Sorry, Eva - Didn't mean to hurt your feelings...

I didn't think it was vile - more in the lines of, these guys are
epitomizing "if life hands you a lemon, make lemonade." And what
greater kindness (short of cleaning it up) could you do for your
fellow citizen than marking the pile so that no one is likely to
step in it? Furthermore, this is putting it up in lights that
_this_ dog's owner was too inconsiderate to scoop the poop.

This is not a Texas thang. Nope nope nope. That would include a
dried up cow chip flinging contest, and ah din't hear no mention
of no cow chips on that thar web site. (If you're from Texas and
reading this, my apologies for sullying your state's reputation
for the sake of taking a cheap shot.)

I don't know whether NYC or LA has the foo-foo dog title, but NYC
is right up there with its mink doggy coats, diamond-encrusted
collars, and painted toenails on its pink society poodles.
Somehow, the sprinkles seem to fit.

And c'mon, NYC was home to Andy Warhol and Jackson Pollack. The
city whose NY Times once (still?) did weekly stories on how a
couple with too little sense and too much money managed to spend
it on "unusual" weddings. Where children are put on waiting
lists for the "best" pre-schools as soon as they are conceived.
I would have been really surprised to find out that the
sprinklers resided in Cleveland, say, or Chicago. But NYC - nah,
it just seemed to fit. (:-p)

There are plenty of things wrong with NYC. (I might even be one of them.)
Right now, trigger-happy cops are our biggest issue.

As for Warhol, he's not the guy who made the movie about eating dogshit.
That was John Waters from Baltimore. BALTIMORE! Not New York! Baltimore!

Just watched a piece on _60 Minutes_ about "Larry the Cable Guy." He's from
Nebraska. I rest my case!

(Nebraska's still in Texas, isn't it?)

We rarely have basement. It is impossible to get a dry one.
