Default OT - kitties and vacuum cleaners

never met a cat yet that wouldn't run a mile if someone brought out a
vacuum cleaner. It's like there's a genetic memory among cats about
being sucked up by a giant hoover.

I wonder how this little kitty is going to feel about vacuum cleaners
when he grows up?

I've got one who doesn't run from the vacuum cleaner, but pretty much the
only thing she does move for is food...

It is pretty hot here today, so we've got lots of fluffy tummies exposed. :-)

Probably like most cats do. The mother of my cat wouldn't run, however.
She'd fight the vacuum cleaner.

Huh... good question. ;-) Good use of a vacuum cleaner & a sock.

My cats are even leery of the Dustbuster, nevermind the vacuum cleaner!

OTOH, thunderstorms: 2 out of my 4 (spanning the years) cats have hidden
under beds during electric storms, whereas the other 2 are not the least bit
afraid of them; I've had to drag Demelza off windowsills in order to shut
windows when it's pouring along with thunder & lightning.

My cat asked me to cut and paste the following from her blog:

Mommy and I had a very scary experience Saturday afternoon. Sirens
went off and Mommy turned on something called the Weather Channel. On
the screen for the whole national audience was a map of West Bend,
Addison, and Nenno down to Germantown. (Mommy is helping me with the
geography.) I was on the bed and all of a sudden Mommy was reaching
for me. I went under the bed, which is what I usually do, but Mommy
reached under and caught me, first by the tail (very humiliating) and
then quickly by the back legs. I turned my head around and as Mommy
pulled me out, I gave my purest HISS straight from my throat into
Mommy's face. But Mommy said, "Fawn, this is SERIOUS." That's when I
got scared and quiet. I didn't give Mommy any more flak and she put me
in my carrier, got her purse, and carried me downstairs to a
stairwell. I could hear other people, and some of them even said hello
to me through my box. I think people admired Mommy for bringing me
down, and of course me for my extreme bravery and cooperation. We were
downstairs about an hour. I cried softly most of the time because I
was afraid I would never see my home again. I was very happy when I
could feel the elevator going up, and then when Mommy opened the
carrier. I put my aching tail straight up and examined all the walls
and furniture, and then I rubbed against Mommy many times.
Love from Fawn

Whoa - a tornado warning?? (We very seldom have them here - no sirens, just
noaa/TWC - but I HATE them. They basically scare the hell out of me.)

Fawn was right - that deserved a C&P (& tell her she's quite a good
writer/reporter/blogger).
