Default [OT] Ouch - this could be painful, better put it off

http://webapps2.ucalgary.ca/~steel//...us/measure.php

is a link to a fairly involved procrastination survey. I scored
69%, above average procrastinator.

Some of the questions, though - ouch!

52%. Moderate Procrastinator. It means I do things like reading
newsgroups or taking the this cockamamie test instead of doing what I
should be doing..... ;-)

10%. But it has been suggested that I have a form of ADD where I
overcompensate. I've wondered, because the main difference between DH and
DD (both ADD) and me is that I recognize that I will forget or fall
behind if I don't do things right away, so I take steps to prevent that
from happening. DH and DD are sure that they will remember on their own,
even though it almost never happens. :-)

I stalled on the first question where it mentioned cravings. I only
notice those after I've already moved to fullfill them, but then I'm
another ADDer.

That's interesting.....If there is something I need to do I have to do
it straight away, and once it's done I get an immense feeling of
freedom/relief. I'm also very methodical and love routine.....can get
irritated if my routine is disrupted and I have to reorganise my day.

Likewise. 66% here.

> Some of the questions, though - ouch!

Definitely. For me, though, most of my procrastination happens at home.
At work, I have deadlines and people who are expecting me to deliver =
motivation. Likewise, if friends are waiting, I'm not late. At home,
there's no one expecting anything of me, so if I don't fold laundry or
call the plumber today, who's gonna know? The answer page had some
helpful hints, but I have to work on ending my habit of saying, "I'll do
it tomorrow" - to myself. I'm starting to become an annoying roommate
for myself. :-)

I was going to spend this weekend in the company of FlyLady to see if I
can't kick-start myself with her, so another cup of coffee and off to
her website it is. But it'll have to wait. First, I must stop delaying
lunch. It's past noon.

I'm a fantastically skilful procrastinator. I don't want to embarrass
anyone by saying how high I scored, so let's just say I'm naturally
gifted :-)

Seriously, it's been a very big problem all my life. A psychotherapist
once told me I subconsciously believed that procrastination was the
key to immortality.

If you don't write your will, you won't die. Everybody knows that!
