| | | OT:Suzanne Sommers skin I just saw Suzanne Sommers on the news report about the Malibu fires.
Unfortunately her home was one of four that was incinerated.
But what got me was the state of her face. Her skin looks awful, from nose
downward to her chin & neck she has this unusual somewhat pocked and
puckered look ( if I'm describing this accurately). Not normal wrinkles,
just that weird skin texture. Has anyone else seen this? Is this a result of
aging plastic surgery?

I'd say it's a good bet. I haven't seen her, but I've seen the "look" you're
describing in older celebrities, and that's what it is. Just about always.
Have you seen Oprah Winfrey recently? It's the same thing. She really hasn't
done herself any favors by getting plastic.

This whole plastic surgery stuff is so sad, it truly is. For a few decades
of looking better ( not always) you sacrifice aging beautifully. I've seen
some lovely women in their 70's, overweight but looking great, wrinkles but
with wonderful complexions, skin untouched by the scalpel and whatever crap
injected under the skin.
Aging plastic surgery looks really *freaky*. Take a look at Joan Rivers ,
Arnold Schartzennagger etc...

She said on the Larry King show that she has Botox injections.
Actually when I saw her on TV tonight I thought she looked nice, much
better then when I saw her all made up on TV earlier. She is sixty.

So are Goldie Hawn and Sally Field. Neither one of them has that "mask"
look. They must go to a different doctor!

Ohhh...Linda Evans and Kenny Rogers....It took me a minute to
recognize either one of them the last time I saw them. Horrible.

Regular lurker, irregular poster chiming in here . . .
Yeah, I saw the news clip with her walking through the burned remains of her
home and grounds (devastating for anyone - star or not, but she is
responding with a good attitude) and I noticed the exact same thing!! My
first thought was, boy, make-up hides a multitude of sins! Her skin was
definitely mottled, puckered, certainly nothing like she appears on her
infomercials or other shows touting her "fountain of youth" (my term)
advice! It made me do a second take. If Kathryn saw her looking nice on
TV, it must have been when she was doing a scheduled interview, and not a
candid shot - so studio makeup would hide alot.
Someone mentioned Goldie and Sally Field - have they both also had botox or
other enhancements? Seems very few in Hollywood are immune to the call of
the knife or needle as they age.
Stepping back behind the curtain now,

must say her eyes do look more sparkly and don't have that tired look that
mine do She also had her breasts reduced...but that was for medical
reasons..her back and shoulders. She never had a boob size problem until she
turned forty..then they really started growing. She didn't have the surgery
until she was 50. She feels much better. |

Some people get really droopy eyelids as they age, and it can actually
interfere with seeing. Along with the below-mentioned breast reduction,
these are the types of plastic surgery you do to improve health or
function, not looks.

Well, boob reduction can also improve looks (as I imagine the droopy lids
lift deal would)... a 2-for-1 deal. Feel better & look better!

Me too, when I saw her I did a double take and thought OMG! What happened to
that Suzanne Sommers we see in the media? She looks gorgeous but really
underneath all that make-up is no natural beauty.

Not just studio makeup, but the makeup which many celebrities regard
as important as clothing, so you never see them without it. I've
sometimes seen a film actress playing a person who ages or gets sicker
during the film, and thought to myself "Wow, I wonder how she did
that! It's a very convincing change of appearance!" And then I realise
how she did it. She wiped off all the usual make-up...
