I was wondering the same thing myself. Guess everyone is still
ecovering from holiday overload.
I always remember Peggy Lee singing Fever! She was good, wasn't she?
Speaking of Divas, here is a great article I found, with a good
definition and a list of the top Divas: http://www.vintage-diva.com/what%20is%20a%20diva.htm
My favorites are listed here including Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe,

----Excellent! A favorite version of one of my favorite songs. I also like
Eva Cassidy's version - although not nearly as sultry, & Ray Charles's, too.

----Not sure if she qualifies as a diva (but I think so), but Aretha
Franklin is a favorite of mine. And to some degree, Linda Ronstadt.

IMO, the following anecdote about opera singer Leontyne Price defines a true
diva:
"Asked by an interviewer about competitive feelings toward younger stars,
she replied: 'Why should I feel threatened? There'll never be another me.'

Amy Winehouse is certainly shaping up to be a "diva". Amazing voice,
but prone to making the news for all the wrong reasons.

For that above-and-beyond-ordinary quality that a diva must have, I have
several that make my short list: Elizabeth Taylor, Earth Kitt, Diana
Ross and Cher. :-)

I don't think she's long for this world. A trainwreck waiting to happen,
I'm afraid.
I don't think Aretha Franklin is long for this world, either, unless she
gets help *soon*. She has got to be over 300 lbs. at this point. For an
admirer, it's painful to look at her.
Surprised no one has mentioned Madonna or Beyonce.

Since she seems to particularly "go off the rails" in live
performances, I wonder if she's a "stage fright" sufferer, having a
"wee bit dutch courage" to go onstage and forgetting to stop? Maybe
she should stick to the recording studio and let everyone enjoy her
brilliant albums!

I haven't seen a picture of her in a good while. I'm sorry she's in this
condition. She has a such a gorgeous voice.

I can never quite like Madonna. She's fascinating but not likeable. And
she doesn't act like a diva, IMO. Neither does Dolly Parton.

You can't be a diva if your mom still dresses you.

Aretha at age 19 - 2 mp3's if anybody's interested (hope this works):

I'd say she's still young and robust enough to be able to recover from
a lot more abuse, but what she's at risk of are accidents like an
overdose or a car accident.

Madonna is pretty fat free, but has plenty of muscle. It wouldn't
surprise me if she had a lot more upper body strength than most men.
Healthy female endurance athletes like Laura Radcliffe look like
that. They're possibly under the fertility and menstruation limit, but
that's one of the modes of healthy female operation our evolutionary
heritage has supplied us with.
I do agree however that Beyonce looks pathologically starved.

Huh? Last time I looked Beyonce was far from starved.
You must mean one of the Frustrated Housewives. ;-)

Not sure who they are. Another pop group? I googled up a recent photo
of a starved looking Beyonce, but not being familiar with pop stars it
could easily have been "a" Beyonce rather than "the" Beyonce :-)

I can see why you haven't heard of them. The show is called that in
Norway, but its original title is "Desperate Housewives". Sorry for
leading you astray. Anyway, those ladies strike me as pathologically
starved.

Just one photo? There are plenty of others that show her quite curvy.
