| | | jump around itching & it's not fleas because i have already checked. been a horrible
month as far as symptoms, but this is a new one. started about a week
ago, with the darn itching waking me up. now it jumps around at
random. skin seems fine. i'm guessing that this is some variation of
formication. anyone have any ideas on anything that may help, besides
trying to ignore it?
i guess since i've already had the butt twitching, i may as well head
in this direction.

Ellen,
Creepy crawly skin sensations were one of my big peri symptoms. It
came on very suddenly, and felt like a cross between an itch and a
sharp pain. I had it worst in my hands. It was fleeting, but got all
my attention when it happened. This went on for a couple years and
went away around meno time. It was so unpredictable that I could
never discover what might help it.

Oh. Is the rash bright red and are blisters beginning to form?
I hope not, but if so, get thee to a doctor immediately - it
could be shingles, and if it is, it's important to get the
antiviral drug (acyclovir) started asap. Hubster had a few days
of strange skin sensations and feeling a bit cruddy before his
rash erupted. I didn't recognize what it was until the blisters
started coming up.
I hope it's NOT shingles - that was not fun.

oh boy, didn't even think of that, but i don't think it is. the
general jumping to different areas itching has been going on about a
week, & i've needed to use benadryl at night the last few ones. i
feel fine other than peri etc. thought it was hormonal/dry skin/
eczema stuff before today. the bumps are tiny & red & itchy - don't
know rashes - hives? heat rash? fungal? lord knows?. then dh told me
he's been itchy for about 3 weeks (yeah, great communication). his
seems to be in different spots as well - itchy but no rash, but now
today he has a raised rashy area on his upper arm that looks different
from what i have. but curious that we are both dealing with
something. no different things in our life besides trixie - it better
not be her! guess i better call the doc.

Maybe not Trixie herself, but something they bathed her
with or put on her...?
Until you said your DH has symptoms too, i was thinking that:
this was *exactly* what i went through in discovering i
was allergic to peanuts. First, restless hard-to-pinpoint
itchy feeling keeping me awake. Then little red itchy patches
in the, um, "unfortunate place."
And because of it being there and not on your hands,
lower arms, or other logical dog contact points, that's
why i'm still *kind of* thinking ingested allergen, hives.

No, that doesn't sound like shingles. Good!
I hope it's not Trixie, could it be something she was bathed in?
Have you tried giving her a bath with a hypoallergenic shampoo?
Hope you find the answer quickly!

sometimes the feeling of bugs crawling on skin really is bugs crawling
on/in skin. to magnify the misery, it seems that there has been an
outbreak of scabies at the nursing home facility where dh works & is
in close contact with patients.
so, i get to keep the dog, but i have to admit that for all the skin
stuff i've had through the years, this is a first.
the dermatologist was eager to show me under a microscope the little
buggers that she scraped off my husband's arm. major yuck factor. i
guess that we're lucky to have caught it now - apparently it is often
misdiagnosed. she just happened to be seeing a run of cases right now
& other folks at work are having problems.
